We were initially given a room on the third floor which had a step- in shower over a high spa bath - definately not suitable for we two friends who had mobility issues. After we mentioned this to the reception staff they organised for us to be moved the next day to a 2nd floor room which had a walk in shower and was much more up to date than the original room we had been given. The views from the room were exceptional and apart from a bit of noise from adjacent rooms with doors banging we were much happier. The hotel is very well located in a lovely neighbourhood within walking distance of some excellent cafes and restaurants.
Unfortunately our experience with the breakfast at the hotel restaurant was bad and ugly! We opted for a menu meal and I can honestly say it was the worst experience I have ever had anywhere and I've travelled a lot! I had an omelette which was plonked on the plate and when I asked if I could have toast the waitress said it would be an extra $3.50!!! We could not believe this but decided the wholemeal toast may help with the taste of the omelette but unfortunately it was a thin piece of toast that had hardly been cooked at all. Such a disappointment. The other mornings we went to the Domain Ayr cafe which was a walk away and their breakfasts were so lovely, tasty and made with love.

Zero flexibility from this hotel who refused to let us postpone our visit so we could be at the bedside of a close family member who was dying. Most hotels would show some compassion, but not this one. So think about this before you make your booking.

For the last 3 years I stay here every month for a week and I wouldn't stay anywhere else. The staff are very friendly and call you by name. The restaurant is equally friendly and serves great food.
It isn't a 5-star hotel, but its staff are genuinely pleasant, and variations to the menu are no problem.
