I have stayed at Hotel Britomart several times, both as a solo traveler and with my partner, it’s a terrific place to stay and explore the city. You are in the heart of it, but the hotel feels so calm and relaxing.
The first thing to appreciate is the lovely staff, everyone made us feel so welcome. The rooms are elegantly designed, clean lines and sumptuous materials, and I love the slick electric blackout shades for a decadent sleep in. The decor of the hotel is very cool, lots of raw materials and art that are distinctly New Zealand, showcasing the unique history and culture here. Each room has a selection of books that feature local art and history as well.
You are spoiled for choice for food, there are several amazing restaurants attached to the hotel, as well as Daily Bread next door for pastries and coffees, and you are a few minutes walk from all the best places in Britomart and Commercial Bay and downtown. But a meal at Kingi is a must, the most beautiful food and wine, especially The Landing Wines and the special Kingi White.
I love to walk out from Quay Street all along the harbour to look at the boats in the marinas. Easy access to ferries to get out to Waiheke and Rangitoto. Easy parking at Quay Street Britomart Parking. Highly recommend.
