Hello Beasty was fully booked on Tuesday night so we asked about Wednesday instead. Maître D said ‘I will reserve a table for you with backed chairs’ not stools. Sure enough she remembered us & had a perfect table on a wet evening.
We expected great food given reviews we’d read. It did not disappoint as we confined ourselves to small plates. Sashimi with 4 fish varieties, potstickers, fried cauliflower, beef bao buns. Very tasty food without overpowering. Service outstanding & engaging from all staff.

Our friend who is a local and also a friend of the owners brought us here as we are staying in the Sofitel building nearby. The restaurant was very busy. We booked for 8pm as earlier session was fully booked, we had a drink at the bar when we got there and there are two different seatings, on normal seats or high stools elevated tables (be aware stools don’t have backs to them, I prefer to support my back).

Fully licensed with cocktail bar. Our friend just ordered for us… Asian fusion style food. We ordered lots of small plates and ate till we are full. We had the sashimi, crumbed cauliflower, beef sticks, pot stickers done differently with lovely spicy sauce, crumbed chicken bun, pork bao with delicious flavour. For dessert, we had rhubarb with icecream and chocolate donuts. All very nice. Friendly staff and definitely book or you may not get a table.

3 of us were traveling in Auckland and had dinner with 2 local friends who suggested this place. Great first meal. Between the 5 of us we ordered a wide range of food, and since one of our group was a vegetarian we tried a few vegetarian only options. EVERYTHING was delicious. Place was packed with both tourists and locals. Food came out quickly, service was great and prices reasonable.

Pretty disappointing given the positive reviews. I came here for dinner with my partner after reading all the good reviews about the food. However, we ordered a range of starters/mains and I don't think it lives up expectations. To me it felt like Hello Beasty was trying to work towards a standard but just hadn't quite reached it yet. I don't think I would mind as much if the price was more affordable but you are paying quite a lot for not very much. Further to that the service wasn't great, the seats uncomfortable and dozens of dirty glasses were left on the counter near where we were seated for most of the meal. I would recommend saving your money for somewhere that can deliver.

First night in Auckland and wow, standards are now very high for the rest of our trip. The place is cute, with a great upbeat playlist. Service was warm and helpful, without being intrusive. Cocktails were on point. Everything we ate was delicious but the prawn and shrimp toast is definitely a must do! We already made a rez to dine here again on our return to Auckland in a few weeks.
