If you are fortunate enough to find this place it is worth a visit. The food is superb, the service is great and the cocktails are very very good. The address on the website 92-95 is not the street number this resturant is behind that street number between 92-95 and the oyster place on the water. It’s only sign is the cat logo you see on the website. You will have to persevere. They did have an Aframe sign outside but it was so far outside we didn’t immediately associate the sign with the venue. They need a venue NAME on the venue. Worth the search.

Hello Beasty had just reopened after 3 week gap, it was busy and lively, great atmosphere. We had not booked but were allocated a table after 30 mins. Service was exemplary, many friendly servers plus outstanding food, very different definitely “NZ fusion food of Japan, Korea and China” as advertised.

I was surprised by how much I liked this restaurant. While the restaurant is small, the casual atmosphere and friendly wait staff make this a great place to enjoy a meal. As a solo dinner, I was seated in front of the kitchen—where I thoroughly enjoyed watching everyone’s food being prepared. Plates are meant to be shared, so keep that in mind when you order if dining alone. The karaage chicken and charred broccoli were delicious and the guys cooking are a well oiled machine. Make sure you have a reservation or you may have to wait a while for a table.

Hello Beasty never disappoints. Incredible food, drinks and service. Kibachi prawns so good and the desserts were amazing. Try the cocktail special! Book to avoid disappointment.

Good friendly service, a nice selection of food and what I was impressed with was that the waitress gave us recommendations on what to have. And unlike some restaurants we have been to recently they came around to check we were okay and to offer us more drinks.

The only downside was seeing the empty bottles and cans being thrown into the rubbish bin, in today’s world shouldn’t they be recycled?

Thanks for your review, we're so glad you enjoyed your time with us :)

The bin that you saw the bottles and cans going into is our bottle bin, there are two of them in the bar area and once full they are taken out back and emptied into the building's large recycling depot (used by all restaurant's in our building), where they are regularly collected. All cardboard waste is also recycled in this way. Hope that helps ! Kind Regards, Emma
