We dined here and tried several dishes with the best dish being the assortment of dim sims. Also had the stirfry duck breast, a noodle dish and char siu pork. I loved the interior design of this restaurant. Careful thought has been put into creating ambience with its blue tones and Oriental architecture within the restaurant. Dishes are priced at the high end. When we dined, clientele were 90% tourists. More of a special occasion dining place.

While in Auckland we decided to experience a new place for dinner. We booked our table for four a day earlier. Huami is located within the Sky City and we expected similar dinner experience as those we had previously had in another Sky City restaurant. But to our surprise, when we arrived we were taken to our table by a very cheerful and pleasant young man who, once we were seated, took us through the wine list and the menu. Throughout the evening he was most attentive to our needs. During the first course he heard me saying that we were there for my birthday. He wished me well. The food was excellent. The dessert absolutely super. The wine list was impressive. After dessert we were ready for the bill. To my surprise a little cake with a candle on top arrived for my birthday. The cake was most delicious. An awesome treat that made our already wonderful evening even greater.

This relatively new restaurant to the central Auckland market was a delight to visit. The interior was bright, warm and welcoming as were the staff. We went for lunch and ordered a selection of sharing plates which worked very well. The food was as great as was the service. Fully Licensed and found on the ground level of Sky City.

We booked a private dining room for our family to celebrate my father's birthday. The minimum spend is $1000, but we figured it was a special occasion, so we thought we'd push the boat out. We ended up having 9 adults and 5 children, so we weren't able to use the PDR in the end, but the staff were good at proving us with two tables side-by-side at the back of the restaurant to keep us together. To be honest, we would have been perfectly happy in the PDR even though it may have been a little squished, just to keep us (mostly!) to one table (one child was in a high chair and the table seated 12), but they were insistent it wouldn't work. So, we were hoping the dining experience would make up for this slight frustration...

And it did! Our head waiter was EXCELLENT, very attentive, knowledgeable and helpful. We weren't quite sure what to order for our disparate group, so he suggested that he order for us their signature dishes. If you like Peking duck, you'll LOVE the duck (I don't like it personally, but the rest of my family do and they were raving about it!). There are a lot of seafood dishes (again, I don't like seafood, fussy I know...) that were excellent, and enough beef and chicken dishes that I also enjoyed. If your children are used to 'nuggets and fries' type kids menus then the children's menu might feel a bit exotic for them, but our kids (11, 7, 5 and 4) loved the duck pancakes and chicken strips with plum sauce. We also ordered a birthday cake for the birthday boy (you're not allowed to bring your own), which was rather small, but after stuffing ourselves on the dinner, it was just a nice way to finish with a sweet bite.

The atmosphere was bustling but not too noisy - we were probably the ones making the noise. The kids enjoyed seeing the live seafood in the tanks and were equally fascinated/ grossed out by the temperature controlled room with hanging ducks waiting to be cooked on the way to the loos!

I loved the service the best - it was great having someone so knowledgeable to help order and all of the staff were very attentive to our needs. It would have been nice if there was more flexibility with the private dining room (it was free on the night), but as it happened the bill came to around $800 for our group, so we made on the deal.

Degustation menu at Huami. Absolutely delicious but way, way too much food at the beginning of the menu. Hated having to leave so much delicious food but really couldn’t manage it. Thanks for what we could eat, it was yum!
