“Nice ambiance, not so great food. ”

White and Wong's - Viaduct, Auckland
Ranked #66 of 1,966 Restaurants in Auckland Central
Price range: $25 - $120
Description: White + Wong's 'East meets West' cuisine takes classic street foods from China, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Malaysia and Thailand - the noodles, soups, curries and delicious dumplings - and created an eclectic menu to pick and choose from to suit. Flavoursome Massaman and red curry pastes made from scratch. Oysters, and sashimi with freshly ground wasabi root. We're not purists, so if it's tasty, White + Wong's are steaming it, frying it and serving it up fresh and fast. In some dishes you'll find untouched classics like the Bang Bang chicken and BBQ pork buns, while others, whole Peking Ducks, numbing & fragrant prawns and BBQ meats are our take on Chinese street food, tweaked and re-imagined. White + Wong's brings big and fresh Asian flavours to the central viaduct, right on the water.

Liked the ambiance and decor, gets qui busy at times so prior booking essential. Food was below average as per our expectations.

Great food, atmosphere and service. Has tasty plant-based/vegan options with generous serving sizes. Can’t be beaten on a nice summers day in the great viaduct location.

$150 for two people for what was essentially a selection of starters. We were with a group who decided to order the set menu but I would strongly advise avoiding this even if in a large group because it is a complete rip off!

Peking duck? Soft shell crab? Fried pork hock? pad thai noodles? Kung Pao chicken? W&W has them all, beautifully cooked, well presented and served by a pleasant friendly staff. And the waterside location lets you share the marine life happening outside. Unreservedly recommended.

We ended up eating here two nights in a row and not ordering the same dish twice (except the Peking Duck— massively worth eating). The food was delicious and our server (name was possibly Max) was so good he remembered our order from the night before. The staff were friendly and helpful and the prices were beyond reasonable for the quality. I would eat there again and highly recommend.
