CAT buses are free, as are all services in the CBD. It's a pity that suburban buses run so infrequently - once an hour in my suburb 9Km from CBD.
Great experience from Transport as it is all free in CBD area. Every large city should do the same, it will make everybody's life so much easier. Thank you for that huge convenience.
me and my friends (3 females of 16 and 17 years old) were waiting for the train at leederville station, apon entering the trains dooors, the doors shut at an abnormally fast rate (within 4-5 seconds) in which one of my friends got in safely and the other got in just as the doors were shutting. this not only left myself alone at leederville station, but it also risked my friends safety as she could have easily got trapped in the doors. as a minor who is also a female, i was left in an environment in which i felt particularly unsafe, as a result of the doors closing too quickly i was then approached by a roughly 50 year old man, who asked me extremely inappropriate question which had an underlying sexual motive, as well as this he gradually moved closer to me and proceeded to look at me in an inappropriate manner, this made me feel extremely unsafe and vulnerable, all due to the poor closing time of the doors which left me stranded. additionally, there was a very large wait time between trains (17 minutes) that allowed me to feel unsafe for a longer period of time. in observing the doors closing on the train i had to catch afterwards, it was obvious that the doors had closed a lot slower and unlike in my experience the annoubcent ‘doors closing’ was said, this was not the case when i was attempting to enter the doors at the leederville train station. this whole experience has been extremely disappointing and i will never use transperth again, unless escorted by my mother, as i am too afraid to use the transperth system in the future.
Took a ferry from the city to visit Perth Zoo. It's a relaxing 10 minute journey from Elizabeth Quay to South Perth. There's a booth to purchase tickets prior to going down the ramp to board the ferry. Plenty of seats, windows all around the vessel to take in the great view as you're departing Elizabeth Quay and as you dock in at South Perth jetty.
7/10 times Transperth is just average at the best of times. But as a student who uses public transport frequently to get to and from university, the train system in the remaining 3/10 times is terrible. Even leaving early to get to an exam 45 minutes before it actually starts ( from Mandurah to Joondalup at 5:30am) even seems impossible with Transperth. Mind you this has happened 3 times now- with one of the reasons being that my expected train “was unexpectedly cancelled”. Look I understand that things happen at the worst of times, but this happens way too frequently with Transperth! As a student or city worker I either recommend leaving about 30 minutes to an hour before your expected train just in case or actually drive instead. It is honestly worth driving and paying for parking than using Transperth ...
While Perth is a great place to visit travelling around can be a pain at times i find that the transport on weekends is a weak link in Perth with restricted transport on weekends there needs to be more availability at this time plan well ahead if you are going to use it via there web site.
