7/10 times Transperth is just average at the best of times. But as a student who uses public transport frequently to get to and from university, the train system in the remaining 3/10 times is terrible. Even leaving early to get to an exam 45 minutes before it actually starts ( from Mandurah to Joondalup at 5:30am) even seems impossible with Transperth. Mind you this has happened 3 times now- with one of the reasons being that my expected train “was unexpectedly cancelled”. Look I understand that things happen at the worst of times, but this happens way too frequently with Transperth! As a student or city worker I either recommend leaving about 30 minutes to an hour before your expected train just in case or actually drive instead. It is honestly worth driving and paying for parking than using Transperth ...
While Perth is a great place to visit travelling around can be a pain at times i find that the transport on weekends is a weak link in Perth with restricted transport on weekends there needs to be more availability at this time plan well ahead if you are going to use it via there web site.
Unusual to compliment an Australian city on its public transport but big congratulations to Perth for their 3 free CAT bus services.
As a casual visitor they provided access to parts of the city I wouldn’t have otherwise gone & made local travel enjoyable.
Buses were spotlessly clean, most of the drivers were friendly & it was very easy to use.
This organization runs the trains and buses and I experienced the free Blue Cat and Red Cat buses in Perth and Fremantle. The Fremantle Train Station itself was built in 1907 and is a State Registered Place. The cost for two buses from Perth Airport to Fremantle was very reasonable only $4-80 for a two hour ticket that is could use on both buses
Thanks to the Yellow and Red Cat bus drivers today who helped a lady who was on the wrong bus for her appointment at the hospital. She was very late and the Yellow Cat driver rang ahead and got the Red Cat driver to wait so she could transfer to the correct bus at the next stop. I’m from NSW so didn’t have any idea about which buses went to the hospital. Thanks fellas, you’re a credit to the buses. And thanks City of Perth for a great bus service.
do not use perth buses if you have a back problem as their lack of suspension will kill it! trains ok but watch your purse can get dodgy at night! its about time dogs were allowed on buses & trains we are way behind europe & the whole railway network needs expanding
