I booked just a bunk bed in the female dormitory, but I turned out to be the only person staying in the room throughout my 2 nights of stay.
I arrived Perth at around 6am in the morning and got to the hotel doorstep by bus at around 7am. The reception was closed and was only opened at 8:30am. Luckily there was a staff of the coffee shop located on the ground floor of the hotel arriving at around 8am and opened the door for me, after which I could sit and wait in the Akara Lounge. It was a freezing morning, so the wait was very harsh.
However the location of the hostel is very convenient, just a 3-minute walk from the Perth train station, and plenty of restaurants nearby. It is also in walking distance to the Elizabeth Quay and the Hay Street Mall (where London Court was located).
There are quite a number of people staying in the hotel for long term, I suspect, because I kept seeing the same several people in the Akara Lounge throughout the three days. The staff and guests were all very nice and friendly. The only problem is that staff are not always present at the reception counter. They left a number there for guests to call when necessary. However, I do not have a valid Australian SIM card and it would be very costly for me to call with my HK mobile number. Therefore I could only try my luck and wait whenever I need something.
