Owner description: Hobart Bike Hire has a selection of well maintained late model bicycles and electric bicycles available from our Brooke Street Depot. My family of 4 (kids are 5 and 7) love our family bike rides. So when I was planning our Tasmanian holiday, high up the list was finding somewhere to hire bikes for all of us.

Thankfully there's Hobart Bike Hire and the very friendly and helpful Ian.

We were in and out of the shop within 5 minutes and on our way with bikes and helmets that fit just right. We even got a couple of locks which came in handy for when we stopped for a drink by the water.

The plan was to ride to the Botanical Gardens and then over the bridge and along the water on the north side, but the wind and the complaining from our youngest changed our course. It still worked out nicely though - we made it to the top of the bridge and then crusied back in, using the extra time to explore the city which we pretty much had to ourselves as it was late on Sunday afternoon.

Ian (the owner I think) suggested we bike ride to Mona as a family. He was so helpful with working out which bikes would be best for all of us - Mum, Dad and three kids, 9, 7 and 5. Unfort there was a slight bike problem that we couldn’t fix - we called Ian mid bike ride and he came out straight away and fixed the problem. Super service. Would def do again and highly recommend.

We were on a cruise with a Port call in Hobart. We wanted to rent a motorcycle for a day, and a little research turned up Hobart Bike Hire. I called Ian and reserved a Suzuki V-Strom for the next day. We were a bit early, but Ian was there and got us outfitted with helmets, jackets and a GPS. We headed for Port Arthur on the Tasman Peninsula, after a stop at Bonarong Wildlife Sanctuary to visit the Kangaroos and Koalas. Ian had programmed the GPS with an excellent route both going and returning. The return route took us over Grasstree Hill, with lots of traffic-free twisties. We enjoyed light traffic roads and a very scenic ride. If you are in Hobart and the urge to ride a motorcycle strikes you, I can't recommend Hobart Bike Hire highly enough. Ian has several V-Stroms, a couple BMWs and an assortment of other bikes. Five star operation.

I would recommend Hobart Bike Hire to anyone interested in cycling around Hobart. Great selection of bikes in all sizes with racks and baskets if needed. I did 45km with no problems on a Giant Cypress DX. Rode the rail trail to Mona and beyond, as well as across the bridge to Bellerive Beach. The other side of the bridge is trickier to find but well worth it. The owner/operators were very helpful. Do it!
P.S. I was visiting on a cruise ship. $25.00 for a standard bike was a good deal

Thanks for the great review Kevin. Glad you had a good ride and were safe on that challenging bridge. The trails on the other side are well worth it one you find them.
Cheers, Ian

Great bikes and really great service!! Excellent maps and directions! Close to the dock of our cruise ship. We rode to the MONA and the Ladie's Factory. Proper cycleways all the way! Best way to get around Hobart and see it up close and personal. This is the way to go! Thanks for such a great time!
