A great find in central Brisbane

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 29 Oct 2024
The Royal Albert was a nice surprise, although it may not be everybody's cup of tea (ha!). It feels like staying in a Victorian manor, full of old-world charm and vintage furniture. The rooms are fairly large and the ceilings (and windows) are super high, making the room feel very spacious. There is a washing machine, kitchenette and desk in the room - everything you need. The location in central Brisbane is great.

You might not like this place if you're into really modern hotels (the rooms do feel "old"), but I loved it. There are 4 steps inside the actual room itself which might be a consideration if you have limited mobility. There are currently roadworks going on outside on Albert St, but this didn't affect my stay at all (I was on the other side of the building). One downside was that noise from the apartment above was fairly noticeable, including the sound of the plumbing, but I can live with that.

In all a good stay and a great find in central Brisbane.

On arrival we were delighted to find this hotel had charm, character and a warm feel to it, and thats just the enterence and foyer! The check in was simple and without fuss. We were already aware of the construction noise (Albert St tunnel) so had requested a room at the rear of the hotel. We were taken by the quality finishes, and old world style that provided a beautiful ambience on our way to the room. To our totall surprise on entering the room we found it so spacious and comfortable, we were not expecting a 1 bedroom, full kitchen, lounge and dinning and laundry! Great location, we were there for 2 nights and walked everywhere easily. The public transport including the ferries is just 50cents a ride. The Brisbane River crusie on the city cat at 50cents each was tremendous value! Thanks Royal Albert team, we would definately stay again, best value in Brisbane.

Room tip: If you not interested in a view and prefer a quiet nights sleep, be sure to ask for a room at the rear of the hotel. We never heard a thing.

The rooms are gorgeous and spacious! Plenty of room for the family to spread out. Loved having a full kitchen plus dining table. Everything was sparkling clean including kitchenware.
It was very convenient being right in the middle of a shopping district, with lots of restaurants to choose from.
The only unfortunate things were the horrible wifi (despite the hotel attempting to provide several networks, I could never connect to any of them) and no onsite carpark due to construction (although parking at the shopping mall across the street wasn’t too bad). Overall, I would definitely stay here again!

Lovely hotel in a perfect position in Brisbane. Large room with lounge, dining, kitchen and laundry area. Nice and clean and great value for money. Two downsides - the WiFi was shocking, almost not existent and despite checking out on 8 June our AUD $100 will not be refunded until 3 July. Not sure why there’s such a long delay 🙄

Room tip: Be aware your deposit may take 3/4 weeks to be returned and be prepared for bad WiFi

Overall decent accomodation for a family of 5. Location is unbeatable, right in the heart of Brisbane’s shopping district. Lots of restaurants/ fast food to choose from nearby, a Coles supermarket a few minutes walk away, a convenience store across the road and close to public transport. We didn’t have a car and had no issues getting around by foot and bus. We stayed in a 3 br apartment, our family of 5 slept comfortably, could have accommodated an additional 2 people easily. If you’re looking for value for money, comfort and location, you can’t beat the royal albert.

Friendly welcoming staff. Very central and convenient location for sightseeing. The room is clean and really spacious, much bigger than expected. The air-conditioning is strong which is perfect for a hot summer day.
