I have stayed here previously in 2019 when
it was Next Hotel. The hotel is still structurally the same but the staff are better. On foot this hotel is best accessed from Queen Street mall (next to Dymocks book store) with escalator and lift access. By car, access is more difficult through Burnett Lane (dodge the pedestrians). From there it is a lift ride up to the 2nd floor to reception.
I was able to check in 3 hours early and my room was clean, well lit with views of King George square.
The hotel has a nice pool overlooking the mall. I didn't use the gym. Lennons Restaurant served great buffet breakfast with dumplings and congee for Asian guests. I noticed pilots and cabin crew from an International airline were staying at the Hyatt Regency too.
The hotel is walking distance to Burger King, McDonald's, KFC, Gongcha bubble tea store, Coles supermarket and Liquorland as well as the food court in the Uptown shopping mall (formerly known as the Myer Centre). The hotel is also a short walk to the newly opened Queens wharf complex and the pedestrian bridges which connect to Southbank.
This hotel is a little secret in the Queen Street mall and although it is not as spectacular as the Hyatt Regency Sydney, the staff make up for it in their friendliness and professional service. I had no problems encountered during my 2 night stay.
I would recommend this hotel for a shopping or performing arts staycation in Brisbane or for business in the CBD.
