Excellent W buffet breakfast

Review of W Brisbane
4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 13 Oct 2024via mobile
Not the best impression when coming into this W hotel in Brisbane. I know what to expect from a W hotel but this hotel lobby is way too dark, it just doesn’t provide that vibe. The room looks modern, just the minibar snacks could be more varied, the basket looks a bit empty and weird to have that adult package. The Bluetooth speaker next to the bed should upgrade too, it still got the very old iPod plug…

Breakfast is definitely 5 stars! The service was attentive, great coffee, great buffet food! I love the semi open area they have which is perfect for a chilly morning!

Stay there 4 nights from 8 to 12 Oct in the Wonderful Room. The build and interior works are great with the geometric graphics and bold colours. The service is excellent and vivid. Olivia from the concierge is the super star. Food & beverage I didn’t try coz there are tons of choices within walking distance. Location in CBD is fantastic except parking.

Room is spacious and well furnished. All the furniture and lights control setting is very user friendly. Staff at every stop including the GM welcoming guest at the breakfast restaurant are so energetic, warm and friendly. Olivia is the hero who gave great suggestion, friendly and homey tone and smile. She herself speaks the brand moral and make my stay so easy and enjoyable.

When everything comes to satisfaction, there are a few minor issues that could bring improvement.
1) I don’t understand the logic and execution of refilling amenities. I got make up remover wipes on the first night but not the following nights. I was given an ear plug after requesting the wipes by a note. I got one toothbrush kit for double occupancy. I got 2 soaps at a time.
2) usually there’s a floor towel. I thought the one hanging on bathtub is a floor towel so I placed it on floor. However it looks exactly the same as the other 4 towels on rack. Then I stop using it as I couldn’t imagine using same towel for floor and hair.
3) the small bin is divided into recycle and non-recycle. Eventually I can’t put trash in as it’s too small but can only trash everything in the toilet bin.
4) if I have to say the worst part is the shower and tub. The water pressure in the shower room is extremely low that water runs slowly and small. I can’t have a proper shower. The water at the bathtub is extremely strong that it splashes water all over the floor when you turned to the far end for warm water.

In general, it’s a 5-star great hotel. In consideration of how much you pay, you deserve the best that the hotel should do a little better.

Room tip: Find the way to park, the parking fee is too expensive at the hotel. Check the room shower and bath tub before settling down everything.

Everything about W Brisbane is just amazing !! The view from our room was great, the restaurants/bars were fabulous, the spa and steamroom/sauna with the mineral baths was DEVINE!! Will def stay here again - rooms quirky in a cool way - loved it !

Room tip: you won't get much sun by the pool at the W - if u want sun, go across the river to the manmade beach at South Bank.

We loved the hotel's location and colourful design. Beautiful views from the room. Comfortable beds. Staff was very friendly especially at the reception area. Pool area was clean and nice, however it can get cold in the evenings. Breakfast was very good with a variety of fresh products, live cooking and barista made coffee. However, there was no champagne/sparkling wine ;-)
Small things we didn't like-
- saunas and spa not accessible for under 16 yo
- "intimacy kits" very visibly placed on a tray in a room, while I booked the room for me and my 11yo. Removal of these would cost $50
-no desserts available at Wet Deck
-card surcharge was not mentioned before payment
- room service was a bit superficial

We absolutely loved our long weekend at the W! So stylish both in the rooms and common areas. Delicious food at breakfast with a buffet with lots of choices, from cereals to build your own bagel to hot breakfast choices to fruit and pastries. Friendly and helpful staff (many of whom seemed to be young Europeans on their working holidays). Well equipped rooms with everything you need for a great stay. A hood location close to theshopping areas and a walk across the bridge to South Bank. We absolutely loved it.

One thing to note is that the W is part ofa development that is still being finished so you will see some construction nearby, but we honestly only saw it when we exited the hotel on the lower ground floor and you may see it a breakfast of they give you an outside table.

So who stays here? Mostly coupled, from their 20s all the way to their 60s. Saw some families but not too many, and not sure it would be an ideal choice for them.

We would absolutely stay again

The W is a beautiful hotel and really thoughtfully designed I think. The food was yummy and the staff were very helpful and friendly.
However, we were quite disappointed that on arrival, despite our prior request, there was no cot in our room for our baby. I mentioned this to concierge when he delivered our bags, he said he’d follow it up but nothing happened. I then called down to front desk to ask, and a cot then appeared. But my baby needed a nap when we arrived, not several hours later.
The room service options are alright but very limited. Compared to other places we have stayed, there were very few vegetarian options especially.
The shower head needs tightening and no amount of effort could get it to not fall on the floor. This was very annoying, would have been noticed when the room was cleaned before we arrived, and honestly we expected better for a hotel like this.
Finally, we stayed for two nights but nobody came to clean our room. Definitely we can live without having the room cleaned but when you’re paying for a nice hotel, isn’t that part of the service?
Overall a nice stay, but a little frustrating.

While we're delighted that you enjoyed the design of the hotel, as well as the food and friendly service from our team, we’re truly sorry for the frustrations you encountered.
