This trip was conducted by Damien and he was simply outstanding in his delivery of a great product whilst at the same time delivering a level of customer service that went beyond the expected. In two days he drove over 1000 KMs and in all that time, maintained a cheerful manner to everyone. He is worth more money. The tour was comprehensive and provided an excellent overview of Kakadu. The highlights would be the Yellow Water Cruise along with Guluyambi Cruise. The tour is not a restful experience as it covers many aspects of the National Park.....but I would not hesitate in recommending this trip to anyone....especially if you are fortunate to be with Damien.

Dear dickson307,

Thanks for your feedback and we are delighted that you enjoyed touring with us, and we will be sure to pass your incredible feedback on to Damien. Our Guides really love sharing their knowledge with our guests.

The Yellow Water Cruise is such a brilliant experience, and we try to cover as many parts of the National Park as we can for our Guests over the few days,

We hope you enjoyed the rest of your time in the Top End, and we can't wait to welcome you back on board an AAT Kings tour again in the future.

Thanks,

The Team at AAT Kings

This is all day 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. out of/into Darwin bus trip to Litchfield. If you are a waterfall spotter you go to Florence falls first. 134 steps down to valley floor on well made steel staircase which spreads out the effort. Usual slippery rock entry/exit to plunge pool at falls, but very good steel steps into pool make this easier. Stop off at 6m. high termite mound, also Banyan Tree cafe at 10 a.m. if you want to queue with 50 people for a coffee also visit Tolmer & Wangi Falls, but vulnerable bat habitat at Wangi mean no closer. Lunch was very standard cold meat and salad so not fancy. Howard Springs nature reserve visited on way back but very basic as only one large pond with a couple of very big Barra for feeding. Other operator trips out here include Jumping Crocs which make this only average value. However coach very comfortable and driver Shane had right mix of good information and humour.

We did a 2 day Kakadu/Arnhem Land tour. Our guide was Deb. I really hope that AAT realise what a gem she is. Not only does she know all the scripted stuff, she has so much background knowledge and understanding of the history and cultural issues which is so important to us. Deb is “pocket rocket”. She is enthusiastic and authentic. Other tour guides just sprout out the general information “by rote” but she goes so much further andenhanced the cultural experience. I wonder if AAT realise what a gem they have here? Thanks Deb. You made the trip so much better than our expectations

Big bus full of a lot of very old people. We are in our 60's but like to interact with younger people as well. The bus driver sounded like he was going to fall asleep at the wheel. Nice guy but just droned on an on, forgot what he was saying and repeated himself First day we were the first pick up but spent an hour driving around Darwin picking up a bunch of other people then met another bus that was 3/4 full and we had to get on that one so were shoved down the very back. The Mecure hotel in Jabiru was opened in 1988 and looks like it hasn't had a refurb since then. The hotel staff were disinterested and are obviously that used to having a bunch of old folks arriving on a bus every day they take their jobs for granted. When we stopped for our buffet lunch another bus arrived at the same time. We had 40 mins to have lunch but being down the back of the bus we were just about last in the queue. With 20 mins left we went to public restaurant area around the corner and bought some potato wedges and a couple of cold beers. Same thing happened the next day back at the Mecure but this time there were three bus loads. Really poorly coordinated. The two river cruises were great but we could have self driven and booked those ourselves. On the way back we were the last drop off of 12 different hotels. We were back in Darwin but would have to sit on the bus for another hour so got off at the first stop at the casino and got a taxi back to our hotel. Partly my fault for booking the tour, i should have known what to expect but gee it was poorly organised and everything was sooo slooowwww. We also didn't get to go to Ubirr which was closed. i knew this because I read it on line but no one else on the bus knew until the driver told them on the morning we were supposed to go there. The bus also is supposed to have WiFi but the driver didn't know the password. He did remember that the word 'smile' was in the password. Eventually we worked out it was smile plus the number of the bus. It's a little thing but just write it down somewhere so if people ask you can tell them.

We visited Kakadu with a lot of excitement and anticipation.

Upon getting onboard we felt in high spirits as the bus was extremely comfortable. However it took nearly 40 minutes to complete the pickups and then found out we were behind schedule.

The bus driver appeared bored and had little interesting insights.

The rock art was absolutely worth the trip as was the yellow river cruise with local guide Dennis who was the saving grace of this trip. This was fantastic as Dennis gave us genuine local insight and the importance of respect for the nature we were in.

Outside of this we were disappointed to find out that if we were afforded another 10-15 minutes we could have gone to a lookout to actually gain some appreciation for Kakadu as a national park. Outside of the stops, we were not able to take in any of the lookouts to really appreciate Kakadu as you see in photos and magazines.

If we get to come back again, we will be better off hiring a car through NT tourism (you get unlimited kms) and doing our own itinerary. You would see more and find the day more enjoyable!!

Kakadu is an amazing place, just don’t do it with this group.
