Every year we participate in the Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair and every year we stay at this hotel. The location is so convenient and close to everything in the CBD. Most especially the beds are so comfortable and welcome us after a busy day. The staff are also very friendly and helpful.

This hotel is in a great location, close to Esplanade, Mall, Harbour, car hire & restaurants. The décor is tired but the rooms are spacious, clean & comfortable. Rooms are refreshed daily & include free wifi. The aircon was difficult to adjust & mostly too cold. The staff are friendly but not organised. Breakfast was included in our 6 night package but we were told most mornings that there would be an extra charge. Thankfully we were not charged as the room rates are quite expensive as is all of Darwin at this time of year. The breakfast is a standard buffet the highlight being the coffee machine. I rate this hotel a 4 for the central location.

Was in Darwin for Darwin Cup and Conference. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Hotel has some refurbishment done but still shows its age in some areas of the rooms. Breakfast was pretty standard fare but more than acceptable. Great location right next to mall and around the corner from Mitchell Street tourist precinct.

From the moment I arrived I knew this wasn’t going to be a place I would stay again. From the 20 odd people standing at the front entry (from a conference) smoking and blocking the entry somewhat, to the lack of parking, I know this is inner city, and I know the hotel offers valet parking but when the hotel does not actually park the waiting cars in their driveway promptly there is nowhere to park and check in. I parked down the road and checked in, Came out 30 mins later and the cars were still there.
Booked a room for 3 nights including breakfast but was told rudely that breakfast was not included. I had to dig up my reservation later on line and prove that breakfast was included.......and had to do this every morning.derrrr.
The room smelt very musty
The aircon was insufficient
Woken at 3am with fire alarm (happens frequently apparently)
Below average breakfast.
Expensive rates.
On the plus side the room had a new bathroom and the hotel was centrally located, that’s it.

Worst hotel ever stayed at . Shocking service . Not staff’s fault . Told because of Darwin Cup but when u have full house I put more staff on . Pokey room 421 with tiny window . Dirty window sill at breakfast with blowfly and crumbs from previous diners . No storage in bathroom . Not what you expect from Rydges . Don’t even want to give 1 star .
