We spent our combined birthday/wedding anniversary here as a treat and were delighted by the spacious and comfortable room on the 3rd floor. We had a view of the opera house from our window as well as the huge cruise boats(these obscured the opera house when they were docked). The service was excellent and we were pleasantly surprised to receive a fruit platter and note for our anniversary.
Room tips: there are no lifts so if you are disabled it is wiser to get a ground floor room
Breakfast was pleasant and the menu for cooked breakfasts ample. The hotel was packed so we had a short wait to get a table in the small restaurant but were immediately offerred coffees when we arrived and were asked to wait.
Thanks for a lovely stay.

Room tip: No lifts-get ground floor if disabled. Studio suite we had room 301-nice view in the distance

Booked a room with breakfast included as a Xmas gift for my partner. Nothing fancy just wanted to be in the rocks area. I wanted to try out this boutique hotel seeing it's near circular quay. The hotel has friendly staff, very clean rooms and a great location. The only thing I guess would be additional amenities. Like for the price of the room they should maybe provide free water in the room like most hotels nowadays. And also on the ads I thought that there would be a lounge area that would have a view of the opera house but there wasn't. :( for the same price we could've gotten a standard room at shangri-la and they would have that bar that is overlooking the opera house.

Hi Rickyrobio9,

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay over Christmas. It was great to see you chose to give our boutique hotel here in The Rocks a go. I appreciate your constructive feedback in relation to the amenities and free water! Fair comment in regards to the difference between the Shangri-la and our boutique hotel. Hopefully we made up for the difference in size with our big personalty!

We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future Rickyrobio9

Thanks again.

The location for Circular Quay is great but we wasn't impressed with Harbour Rocks from the word go, we arrived at 8:00 in the morning after a 9 hour overnight flight and found initially they couldn't find our bookings, then was told that our room would not be ready until 14:00hrs. Even those we had confirmed with our travel agent we would have an early check-in, we were informed at the desk that this wasn't guaranteed. This meant a 6 hour wait until our room was ready, they offered us the use of a shower and to store our luggage, but what we needed was to lie down.

We left our luggage and mobile number so that they could text us, when the room was ready. After 5.5hours of trooping round Sydney, we had enough and returned to our hotel and was informed that the had texted and called us after three hours, to say the room was ready. To this day I still await to receive any communication.

We had booked a superior room and the bathroom left a lot to be desired, although it had been cleaned, the cleanliness was not through. My husband kept on saying there's not enough room in there to swing a cat, no way could you undress with the bathroom door closed, I myself felt claustrophobic. I had to towel dry myself in the shower, as there wasn't enough room.
There were other people hairs on the shower walls, a rotting wall frame by the shower cubicle and the floor throughout our three day visit had the same stains and paint flake marks.

Behind our toilet, was I assume, some sort of cupboard where the paint was stripping off, so the flakes descended on the toilet and floor.

There was not enough wardrobe space to hang anything, so with two people sharing, one person had to keep their clothes in their suitcase.

The food selection at breakfast was satisfactory and I would like to compliment the two young ladies, who did the breakfast slot. Very helpful and they both always had a friendly smile. I opted on the first morning for the pancakes, it was nicely presented but that is all I can say. I object to eating grease, as to me that was all it was, flour and grease.

The wifi worked intermittently throughout the duration of our stay, they did advise us that they were updating the system. But when it did work in our room, it was only for a couple of minutes. I had to go downstairs to the foyer to have any proper connection.

Harbour Rocks positions itself as a alternative hotel, with breads, drinks alcoholic and non-alcoholic, soaps, shampoos etc which I genuinely enjoyed and liked.

Overall, no way should this be rated so highly. The service and cleanliness where it should be, was lacking. So for us this spoiled our stay at Harbour Rocks Hotel.

Dear Susan,

Thank you for taking the time to share your review. It was disappointing for me to read that the experience of your stay did not meet your expectations. It is regretful that our boutique hotel was not appropriate to your needs.

We appreciate your constructive feedback.

We have stayed in many Accor hotels and absolutely loved this one. Staff very friendly and helpful...room comfortable.. food beautiful.. We only live one and a half hours away but from now on when we need to stay in Sydney this will be the hotel we choose. We had a function to attend at Darling Harbour and chose to walk and it was a very comfortable stroll only 30 minutes. Of course we could have caught a bus ferry or cab all very close to hotel

Room tip: we had a first floor room.. no views to speak of but we were more than happy

This is a small boutique hotel in the Rocks area of old Sydney. It is a very pleasant combination of historical old building and modern interior retrofit. The building is only about three floors high so you do not get good panoramic views of the Sydney Harbour. However it more than makes up for this deficit by being a perfect location and only steps away from lots of
restaurants, bars, and scenic locations. The Circle Quay, the harbor walkway around which most of the action takes place, is just steps away as is George Street which goes through the old part of Sydney.
Staff was very helpful and friendly. Rooms were well appointed and clean.
However, be aware that there is no passenger elevator. If
steps are a problem then request a room on the main floor. There is a luggage elevator so you would not have to carry luggage to an upper floor. Small but cozy restaurant on the premises and nice little Terrace as well.

Hey Debby S,

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay with us. We too love our blend of historical old building charm, mixed with modern interiors! It was great to see you liked what we have done with the property. No lift = extra room for dessert!
