We arrived one day during the week. The main pool was taken over by a school for swimming lessons for the afternoon, so were unable to use it which left just the inside pool. Luckily it was not busy and we enjoyed this pool. So just check best times to go there.

We went to Parakai for a birthday party, it was a super busy day and it felt very over crowded in the main outside pool. The pool at the bottom of the slides, looked and felt dirty and murky. The lifeguards were all quite young adults, and I'm not sure how much authority they had over patrons who weren't abiding by the rules on the slides.
You are allowed to jump in and do bombs etc in the main pool, which is fun, but it felt dangerous as there were so many people in the pool, and the adults seemed to be the worse when it came to being considerate.
Unfortunately my young daughter had the horrible experience of witnessing a couple displaying some pretty inappropriate behaviour in the main pool.
The kids did have fun, and enjoyed the water for hours, but it won't come up on our list of things to do in the near future.

so very disappointing, we used to frequent here a few years ago but its changed for the worst, rotten wood at the top of the slides, tiles missing off the pool, a poo in the pool, and far too many people admitted, really run down.

Used a Grab One deal for a nights camping plus entry to the pools for 1 Adult & 2 kids - $34. Was excellent value. Pools were fine, the slides & cafe were good, changing rooms ok. Everything reasonably clean, kids seemed happy enough. The Campground & its facilities right next to the pools were excellent, clean & very convienient. Will definitely do this again.

Unfortunately the pools had obviously had an offer for cheap entry as they were extremely busy!!
The biggest disappointment was how dirty they were, there was rubbish and hair in the pools. The changing rooms were full of hair and general rubbish!! The toilets equally needed a very good clean

If all were clean then a very good day out
