Where to begin... We just got back from a week long stay at the Grand View Villa.
A warm reception upon arrival with Piton Beers.
#1... Probably going to stay for 2 weeks next time. The property is beautiful with tropical flowers everywhere, a few banana trees, mango trees, pineapple plants and other colorful foliage. Incredibly clean and comfortable.
#2... Simon and his wife Marina are excellent hosts. They are very welcoming and easy to get along with. Communication response whether though email or phone is quick. During our stay they gave us all the privacy we needed yet were easy to reach if we needed assistance. "SIMON SAYS SAVE WATER, DRINK BEER!" Simon took us on a private boat tour of the local beaches (Jalousie/Sugar Beach, Anse Chastanet beach, and Anse Mamin beach). He even brought us Piton Beers while we were in the Caribbean Sea swimming. Snorkeling is a must. Swimming with thousands of fish in crystal clear water is beyond description in words and one must experience for him or her self to truly appreciate the natural beauty.
#3... Price is unbeatable. The place is huge compared to hotel rooms and suites. The view from the balcony is priceless and makes you forget all the aggravation you experience travelling to the island.
#4... All the comforts of home away from home including outlet adapters, iron, washing machine, microwave, full sized fridge, great stove top, wine glasses, and plenty of room.
#5... Close to everything. We rented a car from Drive-A-Matic. Good times driving on the left side of the road. You will get used to the very narrow, winding roads. There is a small convenient store and bar within walking distance. The driveway to the villa is wild... super steep. Soufriere is very close and has just about everything you would need at Erolines Supermarket.
#6... Grand View Villa is located near all the good stuff in St. Lucia. A clear view of the pitons from the balcony, the sulfur volcano, restaurants, nature hikes, and... amazing water and snorkeling. WOW!!!
We felt very safe and respected and are definitely returning hopefully sooner than later.
We had such an Amazing trip staying at Grand View Villa! Even though we thought we didn't need it Simon met us at the airport, drove us to our car rental, then guided us to our accommodations. Stopping along the way so we could get some groceries. There are no posted addresses so we would have had a really hard time finding GVV. The location is great near Soufriere, Sugar Beach(snorkling and beautiful beach), Sulfer Springs- Drive Thru Volcano, Zip line Tours and so much more! Simon and Marina were really great and we got to experience a Local BBQ- Marina is a Great Chef! The house is 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, spacious and open kitchen, living room and dining room. The large balcony looks out to the stunning Pitons. We are frugal travelers so this place was great for us, there were a few small things that made this a 4 instead of a 5, but overall I would definitely stay here again and recommend to friends! Originally we were told there was a plunge pool and that the villa was in northern St. Lucia, but it was a mistake by the booking company and we were told before we arrived. We were actually really happy to be near Soufriere because its where most of the activities are that we wanted to do. And in the northern part of St. Lucia you don't get the stunning views of the Pitons. So here's a few cons(but not enough to make me not stay with Simon and Marina again) no pool- but most affordable accoms in st.lucia don't have them, they said their dog was friendly but its not and i recommend staying away from it- however I did feel more secure with their dogs being there, really really steep driveway- but you get used to it, you definitely need a car to stay here- But we would've gotten a car no matter what so we could explore the island. Its definitely worth getting a car rental for some or all of your stay. Overall we'd definitely stay at Grand View Villa again, the accommodations were comfortable, in a great location, and relaxing.
This is the perfect place to stay if you want to hire a car and explore St Lucia. It is in a great location just a short drive to the town of Soufriere and the beaches of Anse Chastenet and Sugar beach resort. The villa itself is spacious, clean, has everything you need, and has wonderful views of the Pitons. It was great having the owners, Simon and Marina, living right next door, gave us a sense of security. Marina cooked a meal one night for us, which was great, and another morning made us a complimentary breakfast. I would not hesitate to recommend it, as long as you are prepared to go out and about, (the driving can be a bit scarey, take care) Simon is a local, can arrange boat trips etc and give you all the advice as to the best places to go etc. For lovely meal Hotel Chocalat and Ladera resort are just along the road (pricey though) For more reasonable prices there are several restaurants in Soufriere itself, and Martha´s tables, on the road to Sugar beach resort, does a great lunch. Was great to have fast, free Wi-Fi. Was surprised that the electric sockets are UK type.
