My wife and I spent five nights at the Gasparilla Villa with a couple friend on the intra-coastal waterway off Ft. Myers, Florida in late September. Pretty much heaven. The vacation home is on a small, narrow island with not as much as a convenience store. You pick up all your groceries and liquor, etc., at the Publix in Placida, FL, then take a very reasonably-priced, short water taxi ride to the Villa. It has a great deck and dock, screened upper and lower porches, fully-stocked kitchen, fishing gear, beach umbrellas, pretty much everything. It is a three minute walk from the house on the dock to the other side of the island and maybe the most beautiful white sand beach and pristine water we have ever seen. The Villa has satellite TV, cell phones work on the island, and the furnishings are plentiful. We caught fish every day off the private dock, and had a fantastic back country charter trip with Capt. Phil Dugger, catching a super variety of trout, snook and grouper. All in all, a fantastic, relaxing five nights. One bathroom shower got clogged up, and the owner's caretakers - who live right next door - fixed it immediately. We very much look forward to going back.
