We visited Flat Hills as a stop off on a journey up the North Island. There was an awesome choice of meals and snacks and plenty to see and do to stretch your legs after a long trip. Friendly, helpful staff.

We enjoyed a truly fantastic break at Flat Hills. We stayed in a cabin which was well presented and spotlessly clean. We all enjoyed the facilities and the animals were healthy, happy and well cared for. There was plenty to do for the 3 of us to occupy our time, and we ate from extensive menu of food options throughout our stay. Staff were very pleasant and welcoming, and it’s clear they put a lot of positive energy into making Flat Hills a destination, which we very much appreciated. In summary, we enjoyed this break and unanimously agreed we would come back and visit. Amanda, Henry and the whole team - you’re doing a fantastic job. The custard squares are moorish - you have to try them!!

Absolutely loved our visit to Flat Hills Cafe. Our pod was comfy, warm and accessible. We enjoy having our dog Nala with us where she stayed in her cage, on the deck overnight (it was a glorious warm night) The food was homely and delicious. Thank you

Booked for3 [eople. When we arrived they told us that they could only accommodate 2 of us. Told there was a 100% cancellation fee, even though we didn't cancel, it wasn't what we booked. The manager was not very helpful and just shrugged his shoulders. Would not recommend.

Now this is just not true. The booking you made came through to us for 2 people booked into a king bed only cabin. When you arrived we showed you the booking you made- that is not our fault. My husband showed you the cabin and was sympathetic but it was clearly what you had booked. There is a cancellation fee (we also class not staying as a cancellation) however what you also neglect to mention is that I emailed you the following day to say we had managed to resell the cabin and we were not going to charge a fee (we did not have to do this- we did it as a gesture of goodwill). To say we are disorganised and give us a 1 star review because you made a mistake and booked the incorrect cabin for your stay is totally unjust....

Please don't visit this place if you don't have kids 5 to 7yrs and under. In total the animal park had 1 starving donkey with dirty water, utter cruelty to animals, 4 alpacas, 2 pigs! The custard pie were over sweet & horrible. Nothing to rave about, don't be fooled by the pictures on their website. Very disappointed and disgusted. The staff were rushed and racist too... As we were coloured and not European!

Wow... that is harsh! And ABSOLUTELY not true... our animals are very well fed and looked after- and I personally clean out their water regularly. We actually have 20 alpacas and llamas, 2 pigs, 4 goats, a donkey, 2 ponies, sheep, budgies and bunnies- they are spread all around the grounds so you must have only looked in the garden paddock. Sorry the Custard squares were not to your liking- I am very proud of what I make and a lot of love and effort goes into them and most people love them. We do get rushed as it can get busy in periods but NEVER are any of my team racist- what an awful thing to say...
I am sorry that you obviously completely dislike what we do but we are very proud of our team, our animals and what we do...
