Amazing views, location and staff!

I arrived at Waiheke Backpackers late at night after having a poor experience at another hostel on the island. The staff member on duty was so accomodating and helpful, as were all the other members of staff and the hostel manager throughout my stay. They have loads of local knowledge about the island and were always friendly and chatty.
The hostel itself is perfectly clean throughout and well maintained. The lawn and BBQ area overlooking Onetangi Bay was such a beautiful place to sit and have breakfast. The kitchen is well equipped and has several fridges so plenty of space to store your food.
There is a bus stop down the steps from the hostel with a bus that takes you to the ferry, main town, Countdown and several of the wineries and beaches. There are quite a lot of steps so just be aware of that if you're coming up with backpacks but I found it really handy having a stop so close. Onetangi beach is also at the bottom of the steps and several restaurants further along the beach.
The hostel is generally very chilled and not a party place but the common spaces make it easy to socialise and meet people and it has a really friendly vibe.

One of the cleanest hostiles I've ever been to (I've stayed at a lot) the staff were very friendly, they even invited me to watch a movie with them. I definitely want to come back during the summer and will 1000% be staying here again. thanks for a great couple of nights!

Great hostel, really comfy beds, clean and friendly inviting atmosphere, what more could you possibly need?.
Well as it turns out a little more entertainment.

The downside of this place is it is a little remote, but there is good public transport so not that much of an issue. The best wine vineyard on the island is close too. the Casito Miro.

What an absolutely stunning backpackers. Everything is fresh and clean, well maintained and just perfect. The staff working here were friendly and have amazing service. Well equipped kitchen, lounge, everything is just perfect. The hostel is located on a hill overlooking a beach. You can reach it by taking the 1 or 4 bus routes from the ferry, and go to the end of the line! Such An amazing place to relax and unwind. Tip: go shopping in Ostend before getting to the hostel, there are no shops nearby!

Stayed for 2 nights in a 2 bed dorm. Room is clean and love the shower with warm powerful water. Wifi works well and is free. Kitchen is well equip. The staff working there is very friendly and hospitable especially the lady from Belgium. Makes you feel at home. It is located at Onetangi Beach which I think is the best beach in Waiheke as I visited all beaches when I was there. You have to walk 178 steps up from the beach to the hostel but it is a great exercise and you are rewarded with great views of the beach from the hostel. Just remember to have a torch light or phones with lights as steps gets dark at night. Room gets cold at night and there is no heater but I understand they are buying the heaters. The ferry terminal and town center is about 35 mins by bus but is not a problem if you buy the $10 day pass as you can use it as much as you want. Nearest supermarket is Countdown where you can take bus no 1 or 4 there. Truly recommend this place to stay when you are in Waiheke.

One of the best locations on all of Waiheke Island with views overlooking Onetangi Beach and the outer Hauraki Gulf sea view in a great location. A short walk down the road or stairway to the beach and close by to Waiheke attractions and sights to explore.

The backpackers has been renovated and refurbished. The new beds, bunks with linen and blankets included make for a comfortable sleep. The amenities and facilities have everything you need free WiFi, full kitchen with everything, lounge, TV, guest laundry, good showers, great outside decked areas and seating to enjoy the views and relax.
All types of rooms gives good options and is affordable especially compared to other places on Waiheke Is. Intend to re visit and stay with my family in the different double + bunk rooms.
Staff are very friendly and helpful and other guests were also friendly with a good chilled out vibe.

Overall a great stay, clean, comfortable, friendly, affordable in amazing location with views.

A tip if using public buses closest bus stop end of Onetangi Beach on the Strand for the stairway or Seventh Ave. Also in a group can get good rate with shuttle from/to ferry.
