We have never stayed at a resort before so I have no others to compare it to, however we are regular cruisers on celebrity cruise lines which Is higher end and amazing, that being said EL Cid is amazing!! The checkin was a bit of a long wait but we were greeted with a choice of drinks from the bar. The food was great here, The rooms were big and very clean!! We enjoyed everything we ate, The reservations for restaurants were not easy to get, that was a bummer. We were able to eat in the French restaurant but that was all. The French restaurant was very very upscale and food was amazing and service was impeccable!! The pools were so big here that they were never crowded and always plenty of lounging chairs. Plenty of places around all the pools to get drinks or wait for a waiter to come by and bring you a drink. This place is so big we didn’t even make it over to the 3rd resort you have access too, to see those pools. You have access to 3 resorts at EL Cid and it’s such s big place!! The grounds of this place are so beautiful, so clean, there are ponds that have turtles, fish, lizards and alligators, (alligators are fenced in) they were so neat to watch.
The one thing that Would make me decide to go to another place would be the beach. This place does not have great access to beach. It had barriers set up to stop waves and was not clear water. I have my own snorkel gear and wanted to do snorkeling from the beach on my own but that wasn’t happening. To get snorkeling in, did book a snorkel tour.
If you like to just stay around pools however, the pools at this place certainly make up for the lack of beach cause they are absolutely beautiful pools and massive!!
I would definitely come back to this place because it was an excellent experience!!
