We got married here last year , but I just realized that I never wrote a review. The biggest thing I want to say, is that they were NOT careful with allergies and almost killed one of our guests. In our planning and pre-meetings, we made it very clear that some of our guests had shellfish allergies and I was worried about having any shellfish. They assured me over and over this would not be an issue- we suggested using different colored trays to differentiate between food, they agreed to this and told me all staff would be well informed of what they were passing out; this did not happen. For example, when asked what was on their tray, the waiters would say things like “try it and find out!”. At the cocktail hour, one of the guests informed the waiter he could not eat shellfish, so the waiter went and got a different tray and brought it to the guest, the guest asked what it was and the waiter told him “spinach”, the guest confirmed “no shellfish?” and the waiter agreed. After taking a bite, the guest realized there was scallop hidden under the spinach. At this point, his throat started closing, and we starting look for the event staff to call a doctor, and NONE of the THREE staff assigned to the wedding were anywhere to be found. After about 15 minutes, the staff eventually came back to the wedding (while my other guests were running around the resort looking for help) and helped call a dr (which the resort later tried to charge the guest for!). The staff kept saying “we only stepped away for a few minutes!”, but in my opinion it was unacceptable for all 3 to be gone at the same time. The staff was not concerned at the grave error they had made, and continuously brushed it off when we tried to bring up our concerns.
Moving on from the allergies, here are some other things that went wrong: they tried to start the wedding without the groom, the officiant, and the groom’s family (they were waiting in the groom’s suite, like the staff had told them to). If my sister wouldn’t have intervened, my husband would have seen me and my dress before walking down the aisle.
They also lost my veil and didn’t even notice until I asked about it- thankfully they found it 20 minutes before the ceremony, but I did not get to have it on in some of the pictures that I wanted.
Also, during our welcome event, we had requested (and paid for) beach Olympics (which is advertised in their wedding events), but when we asked to start the games they said “well if you tell us some games you want to do”.
The resort itself was fine: it was pretty and we enjoyed the events each night. The food was decent (not as good as advertised IMO) , but some of the restaurants are only open 1-2 days a week and only for a few hours, so your restaurant choices are very limited.
Above all else, I want anyone with ALLERGIES to AVOID THIS RESORT!!!! Also, I would suggest not getting married here because the planning process is much smoother than the actual wedding
