This motel was located on beautiful Pohara Beach so you certainly couldn't fault the location. We had a unit that looked out to the water, which was fantastic however the layout of the room didn't take full advantage of the stunning view.

The room was quite small and compact with nowhere to place our luggage and belongings. However the unit was clean and tidy.

The view looking out to sea was great, however our unit backed onto the main road, which was very noisy - with large trucks going past quite frequently. This definitely spoilt the otherwise quiet location of the motel.

There appeared to be no drying rack, clothes rack or heated towel rails to dry out towels and on speaking to one of the cleaning ladies, they said our unit would be serviced later that day.

On returning back that afternoon, replacement towels and facecloths were left on our sofa, but the previous days' soggy towels were left in the bathroom and the coffee and tea was not restocked as we had been told.

We thought this odd, but later on reading the compendium we discovered that units were only serviced every second day. However, we felt that communication could have been alot better, as the guests are given a different impression from what is stated in the compendium, and nothing was mentioned on check-in regarding the servicing timings of the units.

Room Tip: Units near the main road can be a bit noisy with passing trucks.

We stayed 2 nights in a beachfront chalet. It was well presented, clean, tidy and had a lovely outlook over the beach.Free WiFi with unlimited data was excellent.
Only comment is that there's limited hanging space in wardrobe due to hot water service being in wardrobe. However there was plenty of drawer space. We would definitely stay here again

We spent three wonderful nights at the Sandcastle. The hosts could not have been more helpful and welcoming. Steve’s pizza night was a real bonus! We thoroughly enjoyed meeting our neighbours for a couple of hours. The units are rustic, but clean, comfortable and well equipped with great views. The atmosphere is extremely relaxing and welcoming. We would love to have stayed longer! We would certainly stay again if we were visiting this area.

We pre-booked in August for our 4 night stay in March. We were allocated Chalet No.1 which had a reasonable size living area and bedroom but the bathroom was a joke.It was about 3 metres long and 1 metre wide with a wash basin that came just above my knees. Furniture was balance sheet style - with a chest of drawers and coffee table from a local junk shop. No air con but there was a tiny air blower. There was an awning over a good size deck area but this did little to keep the sun off in the afternoon but we did have a car port that was handy for sitting under to avoid the heat.
Nice lawned gardens and just 50 metre walk to the wonderful Pohara Beach.
I would stay here again but not in chalet No 1.

We stayed for 4 nights in a beachfront unit with a great view out over the beach and sea from the windows and from the front verandah. Just walk across the grass and we were on the beach. Very comfortable unit, with a separate bedroom and good sized living room with a corner kitchen and dining table as well as sofa and chair. Everything was spotlessly clean and of good quality. Very helpful staff and the grounds were beautifully kept. We ate locally in the village, all very good but would particularly recommend "Sans Souci", great food and a lovely atmosphere but you need to book. We took an amazing trip out along Farewell Spit - well worth the cost. We really relaxed on our stay here and wish we could have stayed longer.

Room Tip: Would recommend the beachfront units as they seem a bit larger and have the lovely views over the beach.
