Our family have patronized what must be the area's best chocolate and pastry shop for many years and always enjoyed both their pastries and their chocolate (with a particular soft spot for the small chocolates made with salted butter, red pepper and ginger).
Today I was there to have a little snack with my daughter to celebrate the beginning of the Spring school holidays and to find a 'Uova di Pasqua' (large chocolate easter egg) for my husband. I was pleased to see that they had a nice selection of eggs and some adorable geese, ducks, chickens and hens as well. I found a nice egg for my husband in dark chocolate with nuts and fruit.
Meanwhile my daughter and I enjoyed a 'tasting' of all of the small, filled chocolate eggs (dark chocolate, hazelnut cream, pistachio, amaretto, and coffee) along with the normal pleasant assortment of salty snacks that come with the afternoon 'aperitivo'.
The location is surprisingly pleasant even with the state highway right outside the front door. The decor is laid back but elegant, thankfully there is music and no television (a big plus in my book); making it a warm and welcoming place to have a conversation and enjoy a nice coffee, a hot cocoa or a glass of prosecco. As it's not next to the lake, it's a very local place and the prices are quite reasonable when you look at the exceptional quality of the chocolates and pastries.
The owners and those who work there have always been very welcoming and especially kind to my daughter (8 years old now but about 3 when we first started going there). Highly recommended for anyone looking for a cosy place that's off the beaten track. Remember that they're closed on Tuesdays!
