Good time

From stepping off our water taxi to stepping back on it three days later we were looked after by all the staff very well. Our room was very pleasant with a great view of Malborough Sounds. The trips we did were most enjoyable and varied with knowledgeable guides.

I returned to the Bay of Many Coves after 13 years and it was as wonderful as I remembered. It’s one of those places, if you are lucky enough to stay there, you think, I want to come back some day.
The property and views are just stunning. Every room has a spectacular view. The staff is lovely. You can literally do nothing but sit on your balcony for a few days and be happy, but there are also water activities, or a trip to the local Marlborough wineries to experience.
The food at the restaurant is excellent, especially for a place that has to have everything brought in by boat. The breakfast is great - lots of choices on the buffet or the menu.
We had the added bonus of taking a helicopter from Wellington (pricey, but worth it) - it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The water taxi to Picton itself is a lovely experience.
The staff was great - everything was seamless. When we asked for a water taxi to be booked, it was on time as was the car taxi that met us at the port.
Literally nothing to complain about! Stay here is you have the opportunity.

Room tip: Go here if you get the opportunity!

Thank you Amy for your detailed review! It was a pleasure to have you back after so many years.
The helicopter is an amazing way to come in and give you spectaculair views from above. Did you know that there is a float plane operating now as well?

We hope you'll come and see us again soon. Don't wait another 13 years ;)

My wife and I stayed here on 2 separate trips. The resort was beautiful, quiet and offered excellent food and services. The restaurant offered a gourmet tasting menu which changed every night. Rianne and her staff were super helpful and offered prompt and attentive services.

We really cannot think of anything negative to say on both trips, other than the fact that Steve the Cat was elusive and difficult to find in our recent trip.

BOMC has been on our list for 7 years, and it did not disappoint. We spent 2 nights / 2 full days at the property, and we loved the tranquility and ease. The 2 hikes (lookout / waterfall) were nice and we got in a few swims in the sound and in the pool. Food was great, especially the truffle omelettes for breakfast. Rooms were very well equipped, and views are incredible. The staff was friendly and attentive and made us feel right at home. Five star experience from start to finish! Tips: book the transfer on cougar lines yourself - it's 240 direct instead of 360 via BOMC (return for 2). Make sure you take hiking shoes for the walks...And spray for sandflies if you're prone to get bitten

I'm so happy that after all those years you had a great time at the Bay of Many Coves! There is nothing better to jump in the ocean after a hike. We always have local and seasonal fresh food in our Foredeck and Kumatage restaurant, and we love the truffle omelets as well!

Regarding transfers - Did you know if you purchase a round trip, you get discounted then if you book two separate transfers? The price you mentioned is not correct and should be $250 for return for two.

We don't like sandflies either and have "that's it' first aid gel without any nasties in our boutique available for a more enjoyable walk :)

Thank you for your great feedback.

Overall, the resort is nice and although the staff is friendly, I found the general manager, Rianne Kuiper, to be somewhat careless. My son wanted to go on a private fishing charter and she referred us to a third-party individual that she recommended so we asked her to make a reservation for us and she said that she would do so. On the day of the charter, however, the individual never showed up and when we asked her what was going on, she said that she had no idea why he was not there so we just had to cancel. I understand that this was a third-party service, but as the general manager, it is her responsibility to ensure that the third parties that she is recommending to her guests are reliable and this individual clearly was not.

Further, prior to check out, we had asked her to arrange for the water taxi to pick us up and take us back to Picton. She confirmed with us that she would do so, however when no water taxi came, we asked Helen, the on-site manager (Rianne was not working that day), what was going on and she informed us that there was some sort of mix up and the water taxi was not coming to pick us up. Fortunately, Helen did an outstanding job of finding a different taxi to come pick us up and if not for her and the rest of the staff's attentiveness, we would have missed our train out of Picton. We are very grateful for Helen and the job she did, however we were disappointed by the lack of attention to detail that we felt Rianne showed as we were upset that both of our scheduled bookings that we had arranged through her were unsuccessful.

Hi Rose,

I'm very sorry that the charter did not show up on the day, the charter was confirmed for the date and even got a email confirmation.
I called and tried to contact the person, but unfortunate he did not pick up the phone or responded to my messages.

We are always going above and beyond for our guests, but this was out of my control.... the charter is always reliable and we have a good relationship with them. Regarding the transfers - after you called me in the evening around 9pm, I've directly send an email for you...

Again, i'm sorry this happend to you, please give me a ring if there is anything I can help you with.

Warm regards,

Rianne

From the moment we got off the water taxi at Bay of Many Coves we knew we’d found somewhere special. The staff greeted us by name and then took us on a tour of this secluded slice of paradise! The rooms are large and well stocked and have views out over the cove and the location is secluded. Be aware that when they say ‘not accessible by road’ they really mention it. We were told even the food deliveries come in via the water taxi! This also means that you have to use the, admittedly excellent, restaurant on site and dining options there were generally limited to the (again, very good) degustation menu so it’s important to let them know not just of food allergies but of anything you don’t like before you visit.

We took advantage of the free watersports equipment (even though it was only warm enough on one day to use it) and we’re able to navigate the calm waters off the jettys, and tried the walking tracks. Unfortunately it had been raining in the days before and the tracks are real bushwalks so couldn’t get as far as we would have liked.

The staff are the real gems of the place though. Nothing was too much trouble and they seemed to know what we wanted before we asked. There’s always someone around to ask, but it didn’t feel like they were hovering, just going about their daily day.

One tip, and it’s not about the hotel. If you’re travelling to meet the ferry in Picton give yourself lots of time on the water taxi. It made a few extra stops on the way back that we weren’t expecting and we only just made it with the help of the iSite staff!

Room tip: . If you’re travelling to meet the ferry in Picton give yourself lots of time on the water taxi! It can make extra stops!

Thank you for your time to share your positive feedback.

We are indeed very fortunate to have this property nestled in the heart of the Sounds. Most of our guest and freight is coming in via boat from Picton, trough the Queen Charlotte sound and that's why we would appreciate to receive preferences and dietary's before arrival. It would be a long way back if we get it wrong! :)

There is a lot to do in the sounds, from marine and wildlife tours to private fishing charters and even scenic helicopter flights, sometimes the best thing to do is to take in the views from your private deck and enjoy some of our local collection of wines, spirits or non-alcoholic beverages.

We always go that extra mile for our guests and want to give everyone the best experience!

Thank you I-site for your contribution
