Jim’s House at Le Lagoto Resort and Spa

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 21 Apr 2019via mobile
My family and I fell in love with this place, the beach and water is amazing and the tropical fish and coral are right outside our door, you can hire snorkel and mask from across the road. Beautiful scenery, beautiful weather and amazing service.

You do need to catch a ferry over from Mulifanua which is a very interesting experience in its own (take a bottle of water) and best to travel on Lady Samoa.

We had breakfast at the resort and dinner and we also had some of the local BBQ from across the road, all of it was delicious.

If you have a car keep traveling down the road to the shop that has petrol pumps but no petrol, not open Sundays and have their amazing ice creams and ice blocks.

I highly recommend coming here, it is beautiful and the service is amazing.

Thank you for having us.

I wish TA would allow half stars as I couldn't quite give a full 5 stars to this lovely resort - it's almost there.

* fabulous location - can't beat the beauty of the ocean here with good snorkelling and stunning sunsets
* restaurant overlooks the beautiful pacific ocean
*friendly, wonderful staff - special mentions to Tala for a warm welcome, Ata our lovely waitress and Line (sorry if I got spelling wrong) - however everyone was very caring
*spacious, clean and comfy bungalow
* first night dinner was delicious - Oka (seriously good here and we had to have at least one bowl a day) followed by Lobster
*beautiful gardens and a few hammocks to laze in
* had a short massage at spa (book in advance - we sadly didn't) - really lovely

Although we found the bungalow clean and well maintained, in general, it's time to restore the bathrooms. A repaint with some anti mold paint is needed and time to re-tile the shower, as well as replace the cracked basin.

The other thing that added to taking off half a star was lack of food variety - especially seafood. We only stayed 3 nights but the first night was the only night to have lobster and tuna was the only fish they ever had. It was normal to have things printed on the daily menu and not be available. So the second night we had dinner next door and they had 4 varieties of fish and lots of fruit varieties, (and it was a much smaller resort). The breakfast was okay but the only fresh fruit is papaya, avocado and fresh coconut each day - it wouldn't be hard to add some bananas and pineapple given they are plentiful in Samoa. Yoghurt would also be a welcome addition (and making it themselves is cheap and easy to do).

We brought our own snorkel gear which we used daily and my husband enjoyed the kayak. I lasted less than 5 minutes on their huge heavy plastic SUP with its broken paddle. If you have your own SUP - bring it to Samoa with you!!! Almost divorced hubby because he told me to leave my inflatable Red Paddle SUP in Australia because the resorts advertised having SUP's. Same at the next resort - terrible SUP. They know the paddle is broken and I don't think it will be replaced anytime soon. A shame as it's a great place to paddle, especially for a beginner - calm waters.

The beach and ocean bungalows are the same with the ocean ones set back a little but still with great ocean views. We loved our Bungalow 10, beach front. Also pick up some big bottles of water on the way there as you only get 2 small complimentary bottles on arrival.

We can't wait to get the chance to stay here again - Savai'i has the best beaches and we were very comfortable at this resort. Thank you to all the wonderful staff for making our stay so friendly and memorable.

Room tip: All the bungalows have great ocean views

Fantastic faves; well appointed; and with the steps to the beach 20 paces from the fave’s deck, with a sea full of beautiful fish at the bottom of the deck. A snorkeler’s delight! The evening meal, on the deck, with the water lapping, is worth spending a couple of nights here. Any seafood dish is worth trying.

We stayed at Le lagoto with our family for five days. The hotel staff were very respectful and attentive. Our rooms were gorgeous Samoan style fales with views of the pacific right outside our door. The food was so good and room service was very quick. And the beach with crystal clear water was perfect for snorkelling there were colourful fish swimming all around us. The only downside was our door seaside didn't lock properly and we have a toddler so we had to barricade it at night. We chose not to ask for a new room though I'm sure they would have been happy to move us. And the aircon didn't cool the room properly as fales were not insulated of course. So it was a bit warmer than we hoped. Regardless We stayed at 4 resorts in our time in Samoa and this was our favourite! Highly recommend!!!!

Room tip: Sea views were amazing. Water right outside your door

A beautiful resort on a white stretch of beach. Great spot for kids and adults alike to enjoy the ocean. They have SUP boards and kayaks for guests to enjoy the lagoon. The colour of the water is what you see in brochures, no filter needed. The rooms are Samoan fale inspired and have AC. Comfortable and luxurious. The food was great. Samoan food on a Sunday evening and whatever you ordered in between was fresh and tasty. The staff were attentive and friendly and the beer was always cold with a variety of cocktails to choose from. The string band were lively and entertaining.

Room tip: Beautiful views, relaxing.

This resort was INCREDIBLE. Genuinely one of the nicest places I have ever stayed.

I stayed at Le Lagoto with 3 other Aus/NZ medical students as part of our trip to Savaii. It was absolutely perfect for what we were looking for - the resort experience with the off peak price tag.

The staff at the resort were so friendly and offered amazing service around meal times. It was great being able to start a room tab so you had no need for cash/card until checkout.

The food from the restaurant was beautiful, fast, full of variety and cheap (I had read previous reviews that the food was pricey - I'm unsure how $15WST for lunch is expensive!). We loved the Sunday night buffet with string band that also delivered on an incredible sunset. We thoroughly enjoyed the cocktail menu - especially during happy hour!

The bungalows were awesome - they seemed pretty luxurious to me compared to most of the other places I've stayed in Samoa, and were clean, had A/C, great linen and most importantly had beautiful authentic beamwork in the roof.

The beach in front of the resort is the best one I've been to in Samoa (I've been to at least 10 others across Savaii and Upolu). It was white sand (no shells or sharp coral), with areas shallow enough to lie, or deeper areas where you could dive off the platform at high tide and see lots of fish. The water was calm and I enjoyed swimming laps in the morning.

I would also highly recommend getting a massage here - I enjoyed my complimentary 15min one and regret not paying for a longer one because the masseuse was fantastic.

Highly recommend this resort and I wish we could have stayed for longer!

Room tip: Highly recommend the beachfront fales!
