Booked at short notice and had read previous reviews so had some idea on what to expect. We are not ones for big hotels and hundreds of guests so this one seemed ideal. We arrived late morning , met at the doorway by Davide who checked us in straightaway , told us about the hotel and how to get to our room which was 222. Took the very small lift only big enough for two people and two cases and followed the directions given. The room was satisfactory but dated with porcelain tiles for a headboard and around the sides of the beds! It was though spotlessly clean and would do us for the week. However at around 6pm the kitchen fan started and vibrated through not just our room but probably others rooms near and would go on for sometime. Get the bearings renewed please. We ate once in the restaurant decent value tourist menu for 11€, and breakfast every morning typically continental with the same every morning. Hotel residents were mainly elderly Portuguese with a mixture of Dutch or German with English being the minority. It is handly placed for access to the beach ,and some smaller good value eating places on the doorstep. The Blue Parrot is directly opposite. We booked a trip to Seville through the hotel, 40€ each but worth the early morning start and the hotel provided a snack type takeaway breakfast. Overall though a pleasant stay in a hotel that has seen better days but still has more positive points than negative with all the staff from front desk to restaurant and cleaners all working hard to ensure visitors are made welcome

Room Tip: 2nd floor would be best

Stayed here on a half board basis from Friday 24th / 27th, reception & dining, & cleaning staff excellent, on arrival there was a lovely packed lunch waiting for us to take up to our room as we didn't get here till nearly midnight, which wasn't a problem, check in was fast & the chap on the desk knew exactly who we were, gave us the key & away we went up to the room, the cleaners were fab, the dining staff excellent apart from Sunday evening when we went down for dinner at 7.30 we only waited 2mins before the lady realised we had no menu, then she brought them over, then having chosen what we were having we were looking around to see when the waiter was going to come to our table for the order, we noticed guests arriving after us, at least 1 family of 4,they were fed up waiting so asked what was the delay & they got sorted immediately, then there were 2 other couples waiting for there order to be taken, then 3 other separate couples arrived, Sat down had a menu brought over, then my partner said if that waiter goes & takes there orders before our I'm leaving, next thing he's off & leaving to go else where, that annoyed I complained to reception, she went to the restaurant to do whatever she needed to do, then asked me to write the complaint down as the waiter didn't believe it, I did as I was asked & off we went to another pub & had a great time. The next morning the staff at Breakfast couldn't apologise enough & also the manager came outside where we were chilling with a coffee, to also offer his apologies, which was very nice of him, as we were checking out the receptionist also apologised & offered us lunch to compensate for the meal we lost on the previous night, but we decided we were going to the Blue Parrot instead, but this was a nice gesture. As for the 2 gorgeous house cats they were the stars of the establishment. Would we stay here again...yes we would.

The hotel is located in a square just one block from the promenade and beach. This is a central location and convenient for everything. The square is alive with local and visiting families early evening and you can see children playing football, cycling or playing in the childrens playground. By 10pm the square is still alive with people meeting up and eating in the restaurants there. It is only aftr midnight that things become a little quieter.
The hotel has a pleasant although smallish pool. We often found we had it all to ourselves. The rooms are functional and the whole hotel is kept clean and is well maintained.
The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. The lunch and dinner can be paid for on a daily basis. I am vegetarian and that was a bit tricky for the dinners. But the chef did produce some nice variations of salads and rice with vegetables. Lewis one of the waiters was particularly helpful and good with kids. Good air conditioning that you can control in the rooms so no problem there. There is a small outside cafe area which is pleasant for drinks early evening. All in all a good choice on a modest budget. With very good location for the beach and Montegordo promenade. Children are catered for. Its a quiet hotel with a Moroccan vibe. This is not a hotel where you will find minidiscos etc. For social activity step out into the square and soak up the atmosphere. p.s Recommend trips to tavira and playa verde which has a lovely outdoor pool and great beach also.

The staff were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. The breakfast had a good selection, continental and British food. The Hotel is situated a short distance away from the beautiful clean beach and a range of restaurants and tapas bars. The only thing I would suggest is that you book sun loungers in advance at the beach. They are like gold. I would go back in a heartbeat.
