Went for lunch, service was poor, food average and long wait to pay, the staff all loked tired of people and a smile would of been great! Good location but next time I would try the other hut in the woods just down the hill ( by the tower/ mast)

Please do not miss out on this experience. I wanted a hotel that was not in town, and that was in the mountains. This hotel was indeed in the mountains right in the midst of a ski run with absolutely beautiful views of the mountains and valley, and is surrounded by hiking trails, and a lovely pond. We arrived late in the afternoon and wished we had come earlier in the day so that we would have had more time to enjoy the surroundings. Actually, we wished we could have stayed for several more days. The owners are incredibly friendly and helpful. We had a room with a balcony which looked out onto the mountain- spectacular. The room was very large and modern with a large bathroom as well. I also highly recommend the half board option- we had a 5 course dinner that was magnificent and very filling. She asked me if I wanted half portions and thankfully I said yes, because I was still overly full. Very good breakfast as well- woke up and had a great hike through the forest and fields. Idyllic. My husband just said today that out of our 3 week trip through Europe this was one of his favorite stops. We will stay longer next time.

I feel guilty having taken so long to write this review. My sister-in- law, her husband, & I made a trip to Austria in Sep 2013. We drove to Lienz via the Grossglockner road & had chosen Moos-Alm based on Tripadvisor reviews. We followed the GPS guidance & were somewhat taken aback when the road up to the hotel (unpaved!) was barred by an electronically controlled gate. I thought "uh-oh!" We met a young couple walking down the road, explained our situation in a combination of bad German, broken English, & sign language. They used their cells, called the hotel, & the gate went up--ta da.

Anyway, the upshot of all this is don't be fooled by initial impressions! This is a great small inn located 1 1/2 miles above Bruck Castle in Lienz. It could not be cleaner, the proprietors could not be nicer, the food could not be better, and the views of the Dolomites are incredible. Unless you are young and want an in town party atmosphere, stay here!

Room tip: Reminded me of the commercial where the couple is driving through the jungle and finds----paradise! (Forget the pool rating. They don't have one & Tripadvisor doesn't seem to have an NA rating.)

Family run hotel catering for everyone. Lots for kids to do and good for adults either for walks, or adventure sports or as a centre for seeing more of Austria.
The staff were brilliant, service was perfect and the food - both breakfast and dinners - were varied, excellently tasty and plentiful. The rooms were spacious, modern and well maintained.
Being halfway up a mountain on the edge of Lienz meant a 2km drive up a windy, gravel and narrow road to get to the hotel. Not difficult if prepared for it.
Overall, this was a great stay for us and happy to recommend it.

Room tip: Room 10 had great mountain views
