Beautiful hotel and location, service is incredible.
In the interest of transparency, I have just returned from this hotel as a complimentary travel agent educational trip. However, my feedback is 100% honest and I have not been influenced in my review.
The Hotel Transfer: inbound was a Tesla and outbound was a Mercedes people carrier. Both very comfortable, friendly drivers and you are provided with water and wipes in the car.
Check in: Quick and effortless, no complaints.
Room: Very comfortable. The bed was lovely. The bath was so nice and you're provided with all the toiletries you could need including a shaving kit. I received a bottle of red wine, fresh fruit, bottled water, chocolate biscuits and cocoa powdered almonds in my room. There's a nespresso machine in the room as well as slippers, bathing robe, iron, hairdryer (full size), a safe and a decent amount of hangers. The TV has a welcome guide on it as well as the weather forecast and casting facilities. I had a Balcony with a garden view. My only negative points with the room is that the safe batteries died but maintenance came up very quickly. The USB bed side chargers were very slow and my mobile phone actually decreased in power (without using it) rather than increasing. There is a fast charge USB point by the TV.
Food and drink: The food was beautiful. There were a few odd meal choices but I enjoyed 90% of the meals I received. The waiting staff are excellent and constantly top up your drinks without needing to be asked.
Facilities: Lots available for kids and adults. You have a good quality indoor gym (I never used it), an outdoor gym, kayak rental, tennis court, climbing frame for kids, kids club, table tennis, piano in the bar area, chill out lounge/library, spa, man made beach area for the kids, two larger pools (one heated) and an adults only bathing area. I would hesitate to call the adults only water area a pool as it is more of a cool down/paddling area - very small and shallow (1m depth maximum) - probably more suitable for kids. I think the man made beach area should be for the adults and the kids should have the paddling pool.
Restaurants: You have 1 buffet (with excellent food) and another restaurant inside the main hotel. In the grounds you have two further restaurants overlooking the lake. In summer there are also food trucks. There is a restaurant on the beach.
Haute living lounge: guests with the more expensive rooms get complimentary access to the lounge with buffet style food and drink on tap (open from 10am I believe). Wine and cider are provided during the day as well as lemonade, coke, iced tea, coffee and water. In the evenings, some spirits are available.
Residences: I visited a 2 bed duplex apartment and was shocked to hear that these go for around €2,800.00 A NIGHT. The accommodation (whilst comfortable) was extremely small, dimly lit and poorly furnished. Some of the furniture looked like it had come from IKEA. The communal entrance was not inviting. I think for the price charged on this, I would expect far more although I understand this type of accommodation sells out very quickly so it doesn't appear to be a problem.
Location: The beach is a short 5 minute walk, the Marina is right next to the residences. There's a water park just down the road and half a dozen golf courses within 30 minutes (drive) of the hotel. It's also only 30 minutes from Faro airport. There are some basic shopping facilities about 5 minutes down the road (in a car) including a pharmacy.
The Hotel offers complimentary shuttles to golf courses 2-3 times a day.
Service: everyone was very polite, friendly and efficient. I highly recommend doing the cocktail making/mixology class. The bar staff and head of operations are an absolute blast and we all had an incredible time!
I would definitely recommend this hotel.
