Have just returned from a week in this beautiful hotel - I find it hard to believe anyone couldn't have an amazing stay here.
The rooms (5th floor, vilamoura facing) were amazing, such big comfortable beds, lovely bedding. The balcony was great.. Vilamoura side is drenched in sunshine during the afternoon and early evening (go Quateira side if you'd like the morning sun instead.. but I'd recommend Vilamoura side or front facing).
The bathrooms are amazing.. lovely showers and all perfectly thought out with mirrors, drainage and ventilation.
The cleaners kept our room immaculately - and at our convenience.
The breakfasts.. what can we say !!! We couldn't believe our eyes.. from freshly squeezed orange juice to omelettes made whilst you wait and an enormous erray of both cooked and continental. It really is something to look forward to each morning and sets you up for the day ahead. So lovely to sit outside and enjoy it.
The pool area was kept immaculately and always looked so inviting although a little cool out of season. We did make good use of the sunbeds but quickly figured out you had to get down there early to get a chair as sadly you do get people who just place a towel or item of clothing to reserve a chair and may not actually appear until hours later. Leaving people who are actually there to sit down with nowhere to sit.
If this could be managed (ie items removed from any chair empty for more than an hour) then I think it makes things a little more fair for everybody. It'd hard, I know but there has to be some way of managing this to make it fair.
This is no criticism of the hotel - it's simply people being selfish but perhaps the hotel could try and stop that for the benefit of the people who aren't unfair.
Loved the area - with the promenade right outside and the beach a stones throw. The short walk into the Marina made a perfect after dinner stroll.
Plenty of free parking right outside and easy to find by sat nav. Not too far from the airport, close to the beautiful area of Vale Do Lobo and central for visiting other areas such as Carvoeiro.
Sadly we ran out of time without getting to use the indoor pool or spa. Initially I'd wished this was included in the rate but actually I think it's a REALLY good thing that it isn't. If included in the rate it'd be packed but as you do have to pay for it, it makes it a much more relaxing experience for people who really want to be there. Having seen the facilities, it's something I'll definitely be doing next time.
It was such a perfect stay - I actually did feel a little tearful leaving but with the intention of returning for not one but two weeks in 2025.
On a separate note - not specific to the hotel but the algarve itself; it was nice to see the care for the few stray cats we saw. With shelters and feeding stations. It makes all the difference. Tourists don't want to see cats and dogs suffering or cruelty.
