My wife, myself and our 2 children stayed for 2 weeks at this beautiful peaceful place that's situated in a valley surrounded by mountains. Old rooms with exposed bricks and stone floors had a lovely atmosphere and were exceptionally clean. There is a gorgeous swimming pool. We enjoyed the table tennis, pool, and the craziest mini golf course ever! Just across the road from the hotel it's possible to hire horses and one morning we went riding at dawn to a nearby beach and through the beautiful surroundings. 15 minutes drive away at Capitana a small port you can hire boats... we had a fantastic 5 hours touring along part of the coast. The food at the hotel was good quality and the house wine cheap and very good. In fact, the small restaurant by the pool was a lovely place made so welcoming by the staff that were unflaggably courteous, helpful and patient. The place has an intimate feel and everyone we met who worked there was friendly and good fun! There was live music on Friday nights that we and many others enjoyed! The only negative for us was the English pop background music played at meal times... which often felt out of place in such a beautiful peaceful place.

The hotel is ideally situated, being 10-15 minutes walk from the sea and 5 minutes walk from a good local bar and shop. Half way between Cagliari and Villasimius where the coastline is fantastic. We rented a car; there are buses along the coast but they are not very frequent and can be crowded going to the capital Cagliari. There is a new fast road through the mountains which makes travel by car easy and enjoyable.

We loved il Monastero, it really was for us a relaxing oasis that we hope to return to.

A beautiful setting, easy access by car and a wonderful pool; As the building was a monestary before, it has a special flair which you can still see in the rooms. It is not a 4 star hotel and could improve a bit, but i is highly recommended to stay on a Sardegnia Tour for a couple days; The beaches are close and the service is very nice and helpful; Internet did not really work but....I was on holiday...

Nice location and conscientiously restored hotel. Not really three star standard. Very poor breakfast which is limited to boiled eggs , boiled pots or beans and a few (very few) sweet choices lets it down. No fresh fruit which is unusual and unheard of in Sardinian hotels as fruit is so cheap. Restaurant is reasonable to good quality. Junior staff have no clue and let the overtall service down. We found the reception staff inflexible and verging on rude.

Having recently spent a week here with my wife I feel compelled to write!
We had the most perfect holiday:
- the mountain setting, stunning
- the hotel itself so beautiful, an amazingly sympathetic conversion
- our 'junior suite' atmospheric and lovely
- the food & drinks, excellent for choice, quality and value
- the staff throughout the hotel extremely helpful, knowledgeable & so very nice
The beach is do-able, well worth a 20 minute walk
Contrary to reports we'd read, buses do work, times slightly variable but fares very reasonable.

Stayed for a week on early June. I can understand why some people might be disappointed if you're looking for a modern hotel with the usual facilities but if you like the idea of a more unusual building that has been sensitively converted this might be a good location to try. Rooms are small but immaculely clean and just about adequately sized. The staff are without exception friendly and do their utmost to ensure you have a good holiday. The food is reasonable and the pizzas and pasta excellent although service can be a bit hit and miss. When I pointed out that my wife's meal had arrived and mine was still missing 5 minutes later, the waitress was almost distraught and I felt guilty about mentioning it. The pool is great, the beach is brilliant although not ideal for children as it shelves steeply but most of all this was an amazingly quiet and relaxing location. I'm sure we will go again.
