My wife and I stayed B & B at the Setar Palace in mid September. The room was good, although not 4 star, but the Hotel was empty! and the Quattro Torre Hotel on the same site was closed. The bar was all but deserted in the evenings and there was no entertainment. TV in the rooms is 100% Italian. It seemed as though the whole place was "out of season" although the weather is still good at this time of year (25-30 C). We had dinner in the Hotel restaurant one night and although the food was OK it was a bizarre experience. All the Brits were marched off to tables outside with little explanation about the buffet. However, the Kontiki pizzeria which adjoined but was not part of the Hotel was truly excellent. Good food, reasonable cost, friendly staff, busy and used by the the locals (you will need to book on a Saturday).
Be warned, you will need a car. There are few facilities near the Hotel and virtually nothing within walking distance. Cagliari is about 20 minutes away and we went as far as Villasimius to the East and Pula to the West, both well worth the visit with plently of quiet beaches in between. One final warning, everything closes from 13.00 until 17.00.
