My husband and I recently stayed here and to say we were disappointed is an understatement. The hotel bears little to no resemblance to the official website (arguably the best thing about the hotel!). The staff was indifferent and fairly incompetent – we were given differing advice about buses into Cagliari and to Villasimius – all wrong. It is nowhere near a beach and the so called 'courtesy bus' only runs in peak season. Not that we were told that. There is a pool on site but unless you buy a bathing cap from reception you can’t use it! Totally bizarre, have never come across that anywhere. There is a guy who ‘polices’ the pool and if you so much as put a toe in without a cap he gets very aggressive. The whole time we were there I think I only saw 2 people swimming – needless to say the cap makes you look like a total idiot. The hotel is shabby and in need of modernisation but the room was adequate. Be warned you will flood the bathroom every time you take a shower. It is expected! There is a restaurant adjacent called Kontiki Pizzeria which is fantastic - I can't rave enough about it. It made staying here bearable. Friendly staff, amazing food and reasonable prices. Tons of locals eat here so you know it is good. It is completely independent to the hotel. Sardinia is lovely and I would love to return but I would definitely make sure we had better accommodation. One final note, the hotel was next to empty and my husband asked if we could check out an hour later - they refused. Think that sums it up.

Setar Hotel is a super place to stay in if you have a car and wish to go to different, excellent, beaches every day. We stayed in Quartu for one week, and did not go to the same beach twice.
There are so many beautiful places to go, and see, if you stay at the Setar Hotel. You can easily travel in to the town of Quartu, Cagliari or St. Andrea.
If you want to discover the most amazing beaches in Europe you can go to Solanas, Villasimius, Costa Rei or down on the west side to Baia Chia. I promise you; it is amazing!
The staff at the Setar Hotel were very service-minded and helped out with whatever we wished for. We told the receptionist one morning that there was a small problem with one of the lamps in our room, and by the time we came back from the Supermarket the lamp was replaced!
Setar has a large pool, which the children loved! A bar and a Pizzeria are placed close to the pool area in a lovely well-kept garden.
If I should point out one little thing that was a minus; I was not very pleased with the air-conditioner in the room. It seemed like it was struggling to keep the room at the temperature that we asked for on the remote control, but it never reached its goal. So, until next time, I hope the air-conditioners are checked and fixed, and I will enjoy my stay to the fullest at this very nice hotel!

Day four of our honeymoon we hit the scenic route and headed from Alghero to Cagliari. Once we reached the city the arguments over who could read the map properly started again!!! To cut a long story short - I the WOMAN directed us to ''poetto'' in cagliari and we found the hotel Setar 10 mins away. It was lovely - if you are female reading this the receptionists have great tips on where to buy shoes/bags/ etc. And if you are Male the staff can tell you the nearest aqua sport resort/casino/irish/english bar!!! The beach is fabulous with numerous different beach restaurants. A sharp relief if like me you have done the obligatory week in the canaries!! This is the exact opposite, fabulous food, no promotors forcing free cocktails, just sun, sand, fabulous hotel with lovely airy rooms and a really sweet barman who squeezed fresh limes from the tree outside the door for our cocktails.!!! i will post the photos soon. This hotel also has a fabulous pool for when the beach gets too hot. HEAVEN.. I can't go into any more detail as it was our honeymoon!!! To put it in perspective, we stayed in the hotel Setar for 11 days instead of 3!!!!
I highly,highly reccomend it.
P.s.
I know you are all worrying, but I also guided my '' I'm -too-cool-to-ask-for-directions'' husband back safely to Alghero using words of one syllable!!!! nicola. Ireland
