Overall score: 8.5

USP: Manicured terraced gardens with nooks and cranny’s to hide away and read

Upside: The showstopper was entering the room. Electric curtains opening timed with the door revealing a breath-taking lakeside vista. Impressively proportioned Patagonia marble clad bathroom. Opposite the The TV spun round to become a mirror if looking at yourself in bed is more appealing than CNN.

Downside: No water in arrival, in the gym or at turndown. For a 30 degree lakeside spot I was calling regularly for water. This is a basic requirement other hotels nearby offer complimentary.

Staff were young and professional and left me with the impression they wanted to do a good job and truly cared about the guest experience.

The GM should lighten up. He was unfriendly, but took my feedback on the chin, instantly actioning my request for water to be supplied in the gym. I didn't care if it was bottled or not but for 750 euro a night you would expect this. The staff might want to rephrase how they offer turndown and stop saying "would you like anything" and start pro-actively offering the turndown service, its small things that make a hotel stand out for a regular traveller.

Range of places to eat from a lakeside grill to a more gourmet offering- all delightful with attentive service. Both in the restaurant and as room service.

The bathroom jacuzzi and room terrace were impressive and the secluded lakeside beds were perfect to lounge in the sun on.

The gym needs to have some free weights. When pressured to find a luxury transfer at a better price the concierge pull through with an option a 3rd of the original price. The infinity pool deck was ok but what was really beautiful were the large spaced out sun-beds down on the lakeside.
