“Huge Shopping Area.”
Review of Luz Shopping

Luz Shopping

Located just West of the city.
You'll find lots of shops there, a huge Alcampo supermarket (Auchan in France) as well as restaurants, bars etc. etc.
But in my opnion, the lay-out is complety wrong.
Shops and restaurants are located in a wide circle with huge parking areas and roads in the middle. Going from one part to the other is almost impossible without getting your car.
Otherwise than shopping malls, this make it also not a good alternative on a rainy day.
I cannot inderstand why the shops and restaurants were not located in the center with tha parking areas and roads around it?

Thank Paul B

This is a trip out of town, not far but well worth it, don't get caught out with the bus no.9 gets you there from the castle, but .... its a number 8 the opposite side of the road that comes back!!! This is a new centre , all major shops but includes Ikea, worth it to go to the cafe. Hypo type market good prices if you are self catering. Wine especially. Factory outlets. Major brands good deals.

LUZ (meaning light) shopping - also called SER (meaning south) is an absolutely excellent 'out of town' retail park - that actually is ONLY JUST out of town and thus perfectly walkable!
Though the winding bus and car journey, taking account of one way streets, gives the impression it is miles out of town it is barely a couple of miles away.
It pretty much has everything - including retail outlets, cafes, go-karting, eateries, and a large number of stores.

BUT - it is a good idea to be aware of these things:

1. Getting there and back
LUZ it is close to the Zoo (one mile beyond maybe) which is far better signposted and map marked from Jerez than SUR/LUZ, for those travelling by car or walking.
It is easy to get there and back by bus - number 18 and 70 - from various parts of town.
However, the bus service BACK shuts down at parts of the day.
Bus Timetables are plentiful (online Google Jerez municipales - autobuses - urbanos - lineas - TA will not let me give you the link) - and timetables are posted at each bus stop - that are easy to understand - but need to be read.

We went in at 1.30 on Saturday (near to Easter) and chose to walk back - just following signs for Jerez - rather than wait from 3 until until 4 for a return bus. Though the walk is only 35 - 40 minutes - it involves a couple of hills. There was no sign of any taxis - but here are a selection of nice tapas bars along the route.

2. LUZ is spread out - and it as if it has been built in a huge quarry.
It comprises of 3 ZONES.
It is not immediately obvious that included in (1) the sprawl of stores such as IKEA and many familiar and less familiar names spread over a large site - with a roadway around and car[arks everywhere - there ALSO is (2) an inside MALL - with a score or more shops and cafes with small stand alone, specialised, kiosks in the centre isle - AND THEN (3) an outside precinct - in an oblong - with smaller, more individual shops, public toilets and cafes.

All three ZONES are worthy of spending time in.
Enjoy

we visited here two evenings. It is large and spacious and has all the brands you would expect, Bershka, H&M, Pull&Bear. It even had Primark. Had lots of places to have a coffee or eat too. Very nice experience
