Wat Suwannakhuna is often called the Monkey Temple or the Golden Cave and it is about 10 minutes before Phang Nga. The monkeys are a bit savage here due to the busloads of naive tourists who are feeding them.
Once inside the cave for some reason no monkeys enter here so it is nice not to have to worry about them jumping on you or trying to steal things.
Inside is very beautiful, it is a series of large connecting caves with a beautiful 15-meter reclining Buddha in the first cave, then a small stairway up to the second cave where you will see various stamps and carved seals on one of the walls. These are from various Kings and Queens of Thailand who have visited the Wat, with the earliest being King Rama V in 1890.
Wat Suwannakhuna is about a one hour drive once you leave Phuket Island take about one hour once you leave the island, just drive towards Phang Nga and when you see some carved archways on your left with a sign for the Temple, turn left and it is about 100 meters down on your right.More
