“Historical Church”

St Matthew's Anglican Church
Reviewed 23 March 2017

We visited the church for a family wedding and it is an ideal place for one. But for anyone who likes to visit old churches then this is a must see. The small church is full of references to the past and the church and ground are beautifully looked after.

St Matthew's Anglican Church in Guilford is full of simple charm and beauty which sometimes is the best combination. If in Guilford, make the time.

This is easy to get to, near the train station and near local eateries. It has an extensive grassed lawn area, however it is not fenced off, there is a band stand for shade, plenty of park benches and a play ground for kids. this is a nice place to lay in the sun with a picnic or a coffee from any number of local amenities.

On certain weekends there are fairs and classic car shows all open to the public.

I was in the area of guildford this week and took the time to re-visit what is now an old memory.I was married in this church and being young did not fully appreciate its simple beauty, troubled history or its association with and being the only garrison church. The beauty had only grown and the surroundings a pleasure
Worth a see, investigate the history an absorb

My grandmother was married in this church, my children were all christened here and sadly my grandmother's funeral service was also held in this lovely chuch full of history and charm.
There are not many historic churches in perth and most have lost their lovely gardens. This church is set in a large tranquil open space.
Have a visit when you are in Guildford.
