Disappointing, old, poorly maintained.

2.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 2 Apr 2016
I normally really like Ibis hotels for their simplicity and cleanliness. This was not the case here.

The hotel seemed old and tired. Literally just about everything was broken, or run down and poorly maintained. The hallways were dreary, signs hanging off walls, random pictures in the restaurant to try and cheer up a dreary space.

Bedroom carpet was filthy, but the bed was comfortable.

The swimming pool changing rooms were downright unpleasant.

Breakfast was OK, but even the egg boiler was broken....

Wifi service was good.

I wasn't acknowledged at any stage as an Accor silver member and certainly was not offered a welcome drink.

I won't visit this Ibis again.

Stayed there overnight.

Staff is friendly and helpfull. Lobby and bar are quite comfortable. Otherwise the rest of the hotel (dining room and rooms) are a bit tired and sad looking, below usual Ibis standards. Need for refreshment.

Breakfast is acceptable (10 € / person)

This is an old and rather tired hotel in the Centre Commercial in Briancon. Staff friendly and beds comfortable but the decor is old and tired and there is a pervading smell of the drains throughout the hotel and especially in the bathrooms. Not up to the usual Ibis standard but convenient for an overnight stop on the way to the ski resort.

I have stayed at this Ibis on two occasions.

It is very typical of Ibis hotels in France. Functional rooms which are comfortable and clean. Friendly staff on Reception.

The hotel won't blow you away with charm but it always comes at a reasonable price.

Perhaps the biggest plus point is that if you decide to pay for their breakfast it is of a consistently high quality.

Rooms small, beds fairly comfortable. Bathroom small, toilet creaks and feels like it's going to fall out of wall. Has a rainfall shower with inadequate screen protection so water goes all over floor. No bath mat supplied.
Breakfast very nice and enjoyable, good choice.

We chose this hotel as a base for a driving holiday in the nearby Alps. The hotel was well situated in the town with good parking facilities for our classic MGs. The rooms were comfortable, the breakfasts were good value, and the staff were helpful and knowledgeable about the attractions in the surrounding area.
The hotel is just outside of the walled town of Briancon which is about a 30 minute walk from the hotel up a steep hill or a 10 minute drive away (we drove!). And there was ample parking at the 'old' town when we went in early September with bonus of several good restaurants both just outside the ‘old’ town and inside.
This hotel can be recommended.

Room tip: Front rooms have balconies.
