Let’s get the negatives out of the way first.
The Parc Hotel has a 5pm check in which is way too inconvenient for most travellers. Also most of the rooms aren’t serviced until late in the day which is also inconvenient if you are staying for several days. I can understand that both of these are designed to reduce costs by minimising the need for cleaning staff, but this is balanced against the convenience and comfort for guests.
Most staff were friendly and efficient. However, one or two were very dismissive in their attitudes and unhelpful. The receptionist at our check in was quite aggressive, particularly regarding the parking that I pre-booked. She also said that the bus to the old town left directly outside the hotel when in fact it left in an adjacent street. She made no attempt to be helpful.
Whilst the hotel is relatively convenient to those with cars wanting to visit Briancon, the neighbourhood drunks congregate in the park just outside and can make it unpleasant for those passing by.
For a relatively modern building, the rooms are fairly small and do not have air conditioning. This might be OK for winter, but in summer the rooms can be quite stuffy.
Now for the positives.
The hotel is reasonably well located from a couple of perspectives. It is near the base of the chairlift for skiers, hikers or mountain bikers. It’s near the bus stop to the old town. They also provide a voucher for free bus travel in the area.
The breakfast (or brunch as they call it) is pretty extensive, and whilst by no means, gourmet, is reasonably hearty. You can also take food away which is really convenient.
Whilst issues such as the lack of air conditioning or room sizes can’t be readily addressed, a more welcoming environment would make this a better hotel. More parking space would also assist.
