We visited several Tombs while in Hue, and this is one of my top three. Its hard to pick one as my overall favorite, because they were all different. This one was more compact than the other, and very ornamental with so much detail. The actual tomb was breathtakingly beautiful. Highly recommend visiting this tomb while in Hue.

We didn’t do this as part of a tour and we got a grab taxi to this site which was a 20 minute drive from the centre. We spent 30 minutes here and would have spent a bit longer if it hadn’t been so hot.

This was our favourite place in Hue and what an impressive place. When you arrive you walk up some stairs to the tomb at the top and the dragon carvings on the stairs are beautiful with so much attention to detail and a great view from the top. We loved the guardians on either side guarding the tomb - in addition to the guards, there are also horses and elephants. The tomb inside is absolutely stunning with the most impressive mosaics throughout. Such a remarkable place and definitely worth a visit.

Visiting Khai Dinh Tomb in Hue is possibly the best tomb to visit if you are short on time. The tomb has three levels and is quite unique that it was built with elements of French, Vietnamese and Chinese architectural influences. You will see elaborate stone carvings and ceramic mosaics. You will see stone statues of courtiers and military figures along the lines of Terracotta soldiers in Xian, China. The parasol above the large altar looks like it was made from elegant silk, but in fact it was made from concrete with ceramic mosaic that weighs a ton. Khai Dinh was considered to be a puppet emperor, weak before the French who invaded and established Indochina. There is an exhibit on the side of his involvement with the French. Bring water to hydrate because there is no shade. There are 127 steps to the top level.

Enrolled by the majestic size and site of this place. After climbing the flights of stairs to the tomb, there are great scenery site in view. The late emperor tomb was majestic as well as the statue guardians who are guarding his tomb.
