Strangely the Khai Dinh tomb, which according to our Vietnamese guide, was the most liked of all imperial tombs amongst Europeans reminded me of Versailles; not because of similarities in decoration (In fact these are totally different), but because, like Versailles, it is too kitschy inside, not a square milimeter is left undecorated. It is set up on a hill so it gives a nice view over the lined up soldier figures; Even though I preferred the Tu Duc tomb the most it is still a must see as part of a daily trip to the imperial tombs around Hue.
