Grand Moon Valley Hotel

We stay at the Moon Valley during the last 2 weeks of being open in November 2017, despite the staff being very kind and friendly and the hotel clean etc, however the general performance was poor and if it is to be a 4* hotel it needs to operate at that level for all the time guest are there and not fall short during the last few weeks of being open.
In conclusion it could and should have been better.
Before booking we were aware that it was a noisy location being surrounded on 3 sides by the busy coast road and to make it slightly worse it is a steepish climb so the HGVs and motorbikes are always making more noise that normal. We mailed the hotel beforehand to ask for a quiet room and they replied saying they would do their best which was nice – but sadly we were given a general room facing the front (and road) whereas other guests and the hotel was almost empty were given a quieter room facing the easterly pool which would have been better. The room we were given had a noisy/temperamental A/C unit which was to be fixed but wasn’t so we moved rooms. On the second week there we were asked to move to another room to consolidate the guest onto one floor and offered a sea/Mt Vesuvius view so we moved again. This was an error as the room we were given was what I call the ‘tail-end charley room’ where part of the bathroom is chopped off for a fire riser. Hence the shower door only opened about 12 inches before bashing into the bidet so a tight squeeze to get in there – also the furniture was sparse, uncoordinated and shabby. Not quite what I expected for a 4* and barely occupied hotel.
The outside pool was not used by anyone I saw as it was a little chilly outside but it should be kept clean and not full of leaves/algae etc. I could mention the external shutters rattled whenever the wind from the north blew (as in the Mistral winds), and that cooking was often done late at night (for breakfast I think) but the smells permeated the rooms so a tweak on the ventilation system might be in order.
During the second week the breakfast items also became sparse and erratic, the coffee urn was not in use but full of old cold coffee, eventually one found a waiter and he would bring you some which we took turns to share.
I was not very impressed that every morning if you wanted lunch or dinner you completed a form saying what you wanted from a list of 3 or 4 items which again is not quite what we expected from a hotel of this calibre. And sadly when the evening food arrived it was sometimes luck warm.

This is a good hotel for touring around to the wonderful sights in the region so again I can only that it could and should of operated better however many guests it has. It has good staff, good location, traffic noise is a compromise sadly, but I hope things improve.
To end on a positive note we had lunch one day and there were only two of us in the dining room – the food was great then so it can be done.

Room Tip: So many places to visit from this location - Pompeii, Herculaneum, Amalfi, Sorrento, Naples etc

We spent a week at his hotel on all inclusive in November. The views were great, the bedrooms fine and the staff were so helpful. The hotel is very convenient for the Circumvesuvio railway line so that you can visit Pompeii, Sorrento (for Capri), Naples for its splendid museums and palaces and Herculaneum. You can even get to the villas of Stabiae, railway plus walk. Although there is traffic noise this is a fact of life on the Sorrento coast road and it did not actually bother us. The slightest downside is that you have a 5 minute walk to Seiano station and 10 minutes walk back up hill, but the hotel is very good and they will take you to Sorrento and Vice Equense at certain times, where the best ice-cream shop is and a super large pizza restaurant.

Room Tip: A sea view is worth it. Both sides have traffic noise.

Spent a week at this hote with saga.l.I accept it was the end of the season but the attitude of the staff was very poor.We were rushed at meal times, the choice was limited and we had to choose our evening meal at breakfast.
The location has one tabach nearby and a pizza restaurant that we never saw open.It is a steep walk down a hill to the station, which is the only way to leave the hotel apart from a shuttle bus to sorrento that only runs Mondays and Fridays and returns at 1pm.
The hotel has a function room that is used for private partys and in the week I was there it was used twice, both times very loud and late .This is certainly not a hotel for older travellers, I cant understand why saga use it.

Dear Guest,
Thank you so much for taking the time to provide your feedback on your most recent stay.
We sincerely apologize for your disappointment with the noise; our hotel runs many events and it is possible to let the music play until midnight, Italian law allows it and tour operators know it, too.
We apologize for your disappointment with our staff; as you can read in the feedbacks from our previous guests, they’re usually very satisfied with it.
It will be a pleasure to welcome you back soon at Grand Hotel Moon Valley.

Best regards

Unfortunately we had an incredibly disappointing holiday at Moon Valley.
During our 14 night stay we were subjected to 8 private parties with music so loud we could not get to sleep. When you are holidaying with two young children and your primary objective is to unwind, get to bed at a reasonable time and get up early to see the sights, then the last thing you want to do is to stay in a 'party hotel'. The majority of these parties went on till gone midnight. We were told by the manager that we had 'come at a bad time'. If we had known that there was even the slightest risk of this happening, we would never have booked this hotel.
Although our tour operator, Jet2, tried to move us to another hotel (impossible during peak season) they are now claiming no responsibility as they say they have no control over what the hotel does.
It is hard to comment on much else about the hotel as our experience was totally marred by the private parties...
So, in conclusion, you might have an enjoyable peaceful stay or you might not. If you don't, it's tough (it would appear).
You have been warned.

The hotel sits in a world class position overlooking the Bay of Naples. The hotel is modern and well maintained. The pool area is fantastic.
Food is well cooked and the staff who look after you are really charming and attentive.
Local transport takes you around the local villages +Sorrento where you can catch the ferries to Naples, Capri and the Amalfi coast
We stayed in a sea view room with a small balcony.
