We stayed at Le Casette for 5 days with our two boys (7 years).
The hostess, Daniela, is a very warm and kind person, who loves to make her guests feel at home, and to take care that they have a good time.
Breakfast is served in the restaurant and consists of biscuits, cake, fruit, yoghurt, homemade jam, coffee, milk.
Very special we find the dinner; this is served outside when the weather is good, which is most of the time in July or August (otherwise the diner is on the veranda or inside the restaurant). All guests eat together, and we very much enjoyed the lovely atmosphere of eating excellent food outside, in a beautiful surrounding, with very nice other guests.
Dinner always consists of 4 courses (anti, primi (pasta), secondi (meat and vegetables), dolce, plus coffee and homemade viciolo afterwards), all traditional Italian dishes and prepared with ingredients from the hazienda. Water and wine are served plenty. Very, very good (and if necessary, Daniela will prepare something special for the children)!
There is a very large garden for the children to play, with a small playground with swings and a slide and a beautiful swimming pool that all guests can use.
The rooms are simple but clean, and contain a small refrigarator to keep some cold drinks.
We had two rooms which were connected with a door, very convenient with the children. This particular room has its own terrace with a table and chairs, the other rooms do not have a private terrace, but you can sit outside anywhere you like.
Day trips: we visited the beautiful town of Orvieto, and also Todi and Perugia are close and very much worth visiting. We even went to Rome by train leaving from the nearby station in Alviano. It takes an hour to get to statione Termini.
We can recommend Le Casette if you want to spend some relaxing time in Umbria!

My family of about 20+ has an annual get together, and this year we searched high and low for a suitable place in Umbria. By chance someone pointed us in the direction of Le Casette, which we booked for early July.

Having driven from Rome, I was surprised at how close it is. Down the highway for about 100km, get off at Orvieto, and in 20 minutes you are there.

The structure itself is beautiful. there is a wide green area with three casali around, all in the old style typical of the italian countryside. The grounds are very well kept, and the lawn was full of summer flowers. The pool is off to one side, the restaurant in the main house..

Signora Daniela is a phenomenal host. If you need something just ask, and she will strive to assist.

We were each given our rooms, clean and functional. Ultimately all our time was spent outside, by the pool or visiting town around. The kids ran around freely, and there are no dangers for them. We went for nightly walks, the stars in full view and fire flies visible in the fields.

What i liked best about my stay was the dinners. Each meal had four courses, different every night we were there. We had dishes we had never experienced before, all delicious. Pappardelle with wild boar, duck ragout, roasted guinea fowl, radicchio lasagna, mushroom roast, etc.

overall a great holiday, would recommend to anyone trying to get away from it all.

My husband, six year old daughter and I stayed here in August and loved it. Pormulo Vecchio is one of three agritourism places that are all owned by the same family and on the same property...although you need a car to get between the three residences on the property as they are spread out. There are several pools on the property, as several different parts of the farm you can visit. The farm grows organically fed livestock, grapes and olive trees, and you can watch the different aspects of the production. Pormulo Vecchio is the oldest portion of the property. There are two apartments on the ground floor of PM (the upstairs is the residents of the father-daughter owners, who are delightful). St. Francis of Assisi was said to have stayed in this old manor. It is rustic but comfortable and clean, with all you need (no air conditioning, but screens on the windows, a beautiful terrace and garden replete with grape arbor, plum trees and a lovely view. The upper property (Le Cassette) has a couple dozen rooms as well as the main dining room. pool, soccer field etc. and functions as the head quarters. Guests can use any of the pools (there are two, on different parts of the farm) and tour all parts of the farm. We loved our time here, spending one day exploring the farm and visiting with the farm animals (the owner had prepared a bottle so that our daughter could feed a newborn lamb), and swimming in the pools on the property, and a second day exploring nearby Orvieto and some of the other less known but appealing hill towns within 20 minutes of the farm. We did not eat dinner at the agritourismo, preferring to cook our own meals (a less expensive option)...and since we were not staying at the main part of the property, breakfast was on the simple side (they left us biscotti, biscuits and homemade jam--delicious but not as hearty as some breakfasts...but this is a very minor complaint). Overall, a wonderful place for a relaxed vacation...beautifully situated, rustic yet comfortable.
