“Simple cottage - country location”
Reviewed 28 September 2016 for a stay in September 2016

Hawthorne House is a clean, simply furnished cottage. It has everything you need & the bedding & towels are good quality. It is a couple of miles outside the village. The owner was very helpful & obliging.

“Nice cottage, beautiful scenary - shame about the oven”
Reviewed 4 September 2016 for a stay in August 2016

We stayed for 6 nights. The cottage is located on R261 between Ardara and Portnoo Our bed was very comfortable. There is a very good new power shower in the bathroom and a new flat screen TV in the sitting room. There is a great view from the kitchen diner window and the dining table is a good size.

The oven in the kitchen is appalling with the bottom rusted out and corroded hot plates; one of them emits smoke when you turn it on. If you can make do with a toaster, a microwave and two of the oven hotplates then you will be OK.

If (when) the oven is replaced this will be a great place to stay.

“A little gem in the countryside...”
Reviewed 5 June 2016 for a stay in May 2016

This was home from home with everything supplied that you could want, from washing machine, tumbledryer, coffee machine, TV and DVD player right down to hot water bottles for the chillier nights.

This cottage had an open fire which Teresa supplied turf and lighters for and even new gloves to keep you hands clean. These are the thoughtful extras that made our stay a delight.

I stayed here with my Mum and my two sons, aged 12 and 8 and thoroughly enjoyed the cottage as boys could watch TV in the evenings in the lounge whilst the kitchen diner had a radio and cosy chair alongside the dining table for us ladies to sit and chat in peace.

The boys were able to play outside as it has a large garden at the front with a large feature rock that they took great fun out of...(their imagination was on fire this week). The garden encircles the cottage but if you have younger children you would need to supervise them as garden is next to the driveway which leads directly onto the road with no gate.

Ardara is a great area with lots going on and very central to local beaches and coastal drives such as the Wild Atlantic Drive. Give it a go, you will have a great holiday here :)
