“A truly Great property”
Reviewed 25 April 2014 for a stay in April 2014

We had a great stay at the Waterfront Penthouse.
The apartment is finished to a great standard.
It is located near the main area of Cobh and only a few minutes walk to the train station and a few minutes drive to Fota Wildlife Park and Resort.
Ken the owner was very helpful and friendly, he went further than necessary to make our stay enjoyable (including bringing toys for our kids and having tea, milk etc in the apartment on our arrival).
We hope to return some day.

“Well appointed flat with lovely views and central location in Cobh”

We stayed at the Waterfront Penthouse at the beginning of April and the owner, Ken, has been very helpful throughout the booking process and during our stay. The flat is beautifully finished with granite tops in the kitchen, solid wood furniture and powerful showers with plenty of hot water. The beds are exceptionally comfortable with good quality pillows, quilts and bedding. Free Wifi is provided and there was milk and coke in the fridge as well as coffee and a selection of teas. It is so lovely to be able to have a cup of tea when you arrive after a day's travelling! The wooden floors and mostly bare walls reflect sounds and make the place a little bit noisy in the sense that sounds like TV or a cup put down on the wooden table can be heard throughout the flat. Maybe a few soft furnishings like rugs and pillows would stop sounds bouncing off every wall. As for noise from outside, it is very quite despite being so central to Cobh. It only takes 5 minutes to walk down to the harbour and less than ten minutes to the railway station into Cork. The view from the windows and the terrace are by far the best feature of this place. Somehow it is very relaxing watching the harbour traffic going past. Locally there is a small but well stocked supermarket with fresh bread and a deli counter and plenty of restaurants and pubs in easy walking distance. We tried two of the eateries and both were of very good quality, if a bit expensive. We had dinner at Trade Winds and Harbour Browns. If you like steaks then this is the place to go, I had the best steak in years, absolutely heavenly! But for 3 people we payed over 100 Euros (incl drinks and desserts)! Cobh itself offers quite a few things to do and is a good base for exploring the surrounding area. All in all we enjoyed our stay at the Waterfront Penthouse very much and my thanks go to Ken who has been very welcoming.

Liked best: the location
Liked least: the flat was very cold when we arrived, it took a long time to warm up. But then the heating was sufficient.

We're so glad you enjoyed your stay both at The waterfront Penthouse and Cobh and the weather was on its best behaviour for the duration of your stay.
We like our tea too and always try to have three or four different varieties in the apartment for guests to have a welcoming cuppa when they first arrive.
Cobh has some excellent pubs and restaurants and it's great to hear you enjoyed your experiences dining out.
We look forward to seeing you again soon.
Ken & Mairead.

“Fantastic”
Reviewed 2 January 2014 for a stay in December 2013

This is a fantastic apartment within a short stroll of all the shops and bars of the wonderful town of Cobh. The apartment is extremely well appointed in a secure building in a central location with fabulous views of the harbour from every room. The apartment is very comfortable and the facilities include a well placed kitchen with all the appliances required and the standard of fixtures and fittings is very good. The beds were extremely comfortable and ensured a good nights sleep for us all and the bathrooms were well fitted with plenty of hot water any time we wanted it. The apartment is immaculate and very well cared for and the huge balcony leading from the living area has the most amazing views and is a fantastic feature. It was truly a delight to stay here and we definitely hope to come back in the future. The owner was very welcoming and extremely helpful and we thoroughly recommend staying here.

Stayed for 3 nights. The place is as advertised. It is on the waterfront, the views are great and unspoilt and the apartment is decorated to a good standard. The apartment wants for nothing (except a tin opener!).

Location is a couple to minutes walk into town, train station (cheap, regular link into Cork) is just a few minutes more.

Lots to do for 2-3 days in Cobh and Cork without needing a car.

Would also mention that the owner, Ken, is extremely helpful, particularly with the local pubs!

“Fabulous Location”
Reviewed 5 November 2013 for a stay in October 2013

This apartment is stunning, very comfortable and Ken was very helpful before and during our stay. Cobh is an interesting destination, I would recommend a car if you are staying more than a couple of nights, although the train link to Cork is good. A great place to spend a few nights at a very reasonable rate. We would definitely stay again if we were travelling around Ireland.
