“Leaving it all behind!”

It is not too much to say this is the best cottage we visited since we first came to Ireland, and that was in 1989.
This was our second visit to Four Directions Cottage; the first time wasn't bad at all, this time the new owners, Mick and Laraine, appeared to have put a lot of work in a complete makeover of the cottage.
Together with Mick and Laraine's hospitality, the hearty welcome with a well supplied table at our arrival, and the incomparable, breathtaking views over Bantry Bay, this made our stay a very pleasant one indeed.
We'll be back, for sure!

“Perfectly idyllic - Dont Miss it”

A family of four , two adult children, we stayed for several nights in late December, it was just simply perfect. Fantastic restoration of a traditional Irish cottage, the best of the old and the new. Delightful hosts who set the scene from the start with homemade soda bread, marmalade waiting for us and a fire ready to greet us. Hidden up a country lane, with its peaceful relaxing surrounds and gardens with views to die for it a haven not be missed. I cannot recommend it enough and cant wait to go back.

“Magical cottage with a great few”

We spent a few days in the cottage in January 2014 and it was great! When we arrived, the fire was already burning in the fireplace: it felt like home. Also some things for breakfast were nicely prepared by Mick and Laraine. The cottage was recently renovated and you can see that a lot of attention was paid to the details: it just looks like an Irish cottage has to look like. The kitchen also is perfectly equipped.
The cottage is a bit in the middle of nowhere and not so easy to find. However Mick and Laraine's information on their website were very helpful. You really should have a car to go there and also to go to Castletownbere for the shopping (10min). The cottage is a great starting point to explore the wonderful Beara peninsula which even in January is definitely a place to see.

“Beautiful views, peaceful location & great hosts”

Stayed during December in this beautiful cottage. It is such a perfect location for exploring the Beara Peninsula. The Cottage owners, Mick & Laraine although new to the area themselves were so knowledgeable about their surroundings & could not do enough to help us. It was so lovely & unexpected to arrive & find a great basket of goodies - what a treat ! Would thoroughly recommend the cottage & the location for a break in Ireland.

“Escape!”

This beautiful old stone cottage was exactly what we were looking for - a cosy relaxed escape haven from the madness of the Christmas holidays. The cottage is beautifully located on Hungry Hill, one of the many links to the Beara Way, and the closest town is pretty Castletownbere. We hiked 6 hours through hill and bog one day and took in some of the most breath-taking scenery imaginable, and the cottage offered all the comforts we needed, including a solid fuel stove that kept the house warm till morning. We were made feel very welcome, and I would have no hesitation recommending this cottage for anyone who needs an escape.
