Lovely place to stay. We had extra people in our party; no problem to Mary who immediately sourced an extra double bed for the living room!

Great location for visiting West Cork and surrounding tourist sights. Comfortable, well appointed and quiet accommodation. Mary and Aidan are wonderful hosts who also assisted us in things to see and do locally. Enjoyed our week very much and even the weather was kind.

This year was our 2nd year staying at Abbey Farm outside Skibbereen. It had a lot to live up to after the brilliant time we had in 2011 but it did not disappoint. The self catering accommodation is first class and Aiden and Mary who run the Holiday Homes couldn't be more friendly or helpful.
West Cork is a stunning part of Ireland with so much to do adn I can't think of a better base than in 'Skib'. The people in the area again are so friendly and the quality of choices for eating or for a Pint is outstanding.
Even when a days touring is done theres always a chance to take children down to see some of the farm animals or the milking.
Any travel involved in getting to West Cork is more than well worth it. Can't wait to get back some day!

We have just returned from a week in The Stall at Abbey Farm. We stayed there last year too.
We love the setting for this holiday home. The owners, Mary & Aidan, provide a warm welcome and are generous with their time in showing the children around the farm and animals. Our children took particular delight in the recent arrivals, Lenny the donkey and the suckling calf. And, for city kids, seeing cows being milked was an eye-opener !
We use the house as a base for exploring the delights of the area. This year, these included Sherkin Island, the walk to the top of Knockomagh overlooking Lough Hyne, the ancient stone fort at Knockdrum outside Castletownshend and the wonderful fairy houses at Rineen Wood, near Union Hall. This was all in addition to being at the beach in Tralispean or on the water in Baltimore for as long as the weather would allow.
At the end of each day, it was a pleasure to retreat to the comfort of the Stall to recharge our batteries and plan the next day of adventures.
We're already thinking of what we'll do when we return to Skibbereen, and Abbey Farm, next year.
