“the place to stay to explore Kenmare, the Rings, Killarney”

This house was built as part of a mini development by Gail's brothers. It is very large and should not be called a cottage. It has 3 bathrooms and three bedrooms with a large kitchen and large living room. It's very nice.

The location is on the Ring of Kerry. The location is perfect with a wonderful market with a fresh bakery inside just two minutes from the home.

Leave the parking lot and you are on the Ring of Kerry and proceed through town and you are two minutes from the Ring of Beara which we enjoyed more than the Ring of Kerry. During our entire day driving the Ring of Beara we did not see a truck or bus, the road around the Beara peninsula we had to ourselves. That is special.

This is a new property in a great location and we would suggest it to anyone that wants to explore the region for 5-6-7 days. It is nice to have an amazing market so close when you want to enjoy the fresh baked goods for breakfast. The market also has a fresh coffee bar attached to it that the locals frequent. A nice stop in the morning and then even better to pick up prepared food for dinner which you can enjoy at home.

Kenmare is a nicer town than Killarney. Killarney has just too much traffic.

“Perfect Location - Perfect Accommodations - Amazing Owner”
Reviewed 4 June 2012 for a stay in May 2012

Gail keeps an immaculate cottage and is a delight to work with. The house is clean and bright, with lovely tile work, big windows, and light-colored wood accents. The kitchen is very functional, and we enjoyed cooking some of our own meals (I couldn't get enough of the local lamb!) The warm welcome and goodies she has for you when you arrive (eggs, sweets, bread, wine!) push the experience over the top!

It's also a perfect location - it's quiet and peaceful, but an easy walk to everything Kenmare has to offer. A few doors down is a very affordable and tasty breakfast/snack spot and a walking path makes an easy (less than 10 min) walk into the heart of Kenmare to all the pubs, restaurants and shops. It's easy to recommend and I really hope to come back and stay myself.

“just gorgeous....”

Kenmare is the perfect place to spend xmas and the new year, the Irish know how to celebrate and they love their roots and culture and rightly so. This was our second visit to Millfield House and we have already booked our third for December 2012! The house is beautiful, and comfortable with every amenity / home comfort you'll ever need. We could go on and on....as 'Mrs Doyle' would insist.....
'Gail' our landlady.... the perfect host, nothing too much trouble and she really loves this house (almost as much as we do).
There's also walking...(makes the lake district seem like the fens) lovely pubs..restaurants..shops in the town (you could spend all day there just browsing) and beautiful drives everywhere... this is getting to be like an Oscars speech isn't it?? The people really are friendly... just go.... PLEASE

“The best self-catering rental I've ever rented!”

This was my 10th trip to Ireland and my first stay at Millfield House. The home was large, spotless and comfortable. The welcome was exceptional: hot kettle of tea, homemade brown bread, fresh brown eggs, decadent chocolate cake and a bottle of wine. The owner supplied printed details on how to operate everything in the house. She had a large collection of brochures, maps and pamphlets of the Kerry and Cork area for our use. The house is perfectly located a 10 minute walk from Kenmare town. If you don't want to go that far, down the block is the delightful Rose Garden cafe with delicious pastries and WiFi. A little further down is the lovely Brook Lane Hotel with Casey's Restaurant which has exceptional food and WIFI and Irish music. Millfield House is the best equipped rental I have ever stayed in. Oh, and for those evenings by the fire (well stocked with firewood and turf) there is a 42" flat screen TV! Excellent value for the money and perfect location for touring the Ring of Kerry and County Cork. We will return.

Millfield cottage is warm and welcoming, well equipped with all your holiday needs (and more) The pretty location of Kenmare is ideal with a variety of shops, pubs and restaurants just a short stroll from the cottage. It is also a good central location for touring the beautiful South West of Ireland.
