Thank you to owner Beth Garbutt for making things right.

Our Tuesday evening Caribbean night visit to Calabash Hotel Beach Club in Lance Aux Epines, Grenada, was memorable. We arrived early to watch the sunset and got to sit on the beach, which was a lovely start to the evening.

The young team members were delightful, but we encountered some service hiccups. When ordering cocktails, we were informed that one would take longer as they waited for the bartender to arrive. While my Island Caipirinha initially didn't contain the advertised Renegade rum, the bartender corrected this when we pointed it out. He also brought us another local rum to try, which was a nice touch, but didn't follow up on a promise for an after dinner treat.

The callaloo soup was a standout, and my husband enjoyed the curry goat. However, the salty, mushy lionfish dish was disappointing, missing the fried plantain and accompanied by some very intense fennel slaw. The pepperpot appetizer had unexpected flavours for us Guyanese folks. Bread and butter were excellent.

The clientele at the Beach Club on the Tuesday night were mostly retired senior citizens. Despite being our most expensive meal in Grenada by far, the overall experience was pleasant, with the team's warmth and the overall feeling of hospitality standing out. Despite having an 8:00 p.m. reservation, they were able to seat us much earlier, thankfully.

Beth, the owner, kindly and effectively addressed our concerns and offered a refund for the lionfish dish, which we appreciated. The concierge and front desk staff were also excellent. We will definitely return in future!

What a relaxing, low-key, thoroughly enjoyable lunch! Great views, professional, congenial, accommodating service. Great menu selections for meat, fish, vegan, vegetarian diners. Nice wines, as well. We enjoyed lunch here twice during our week in Grenada. We hope to return soon!

We were staying next door and decided to splurge for a meal here. We chanced walking in and not calling ahead with a reservation and they were able to accommodate us. We were the first to be seated for lunch. First they have a number of staff to serve you - (which at 55%+ unemployment on the island - I didn't mind paying a bit more for our food). They brought out a breadfruit snack and a sauce while we waited for our food - I've had fried breadfruit but this was nice and light.
We both had ice tea (refills are not free) that was light and refreshing. I ordered the catch of the day - mahi Roti. Mmmm - it could've been shared between two people. They offered 3 different sauces for the roti - traditional kuchela (which I learned is green mangoes and delectibly spicy, a vinegar based - tangy and sweeter mango chutney).
My hub had the fisherman's bowl that he thoroughly enjoyed too. We were far too stuffed to eat anything for the rest of the day.

We emailed a few days ahead to reserve a lunch spot for 12:30. It was worth eating on the earlier side to get a front row table for the beautiful harbor view. (Later arrivals had to wait out early diners to get a shot.).

Food and service were both top-notch. We ordered the watermelon salad and smoked marlin tostada to start, and then the tuna taco salad and the fish tacos (grilled marlin) as mains, plus the tostones (fried green plantain) as we’d never seen that before. Everything was perfectly fresh, wonderfully cooked/prepared, and nicely flavored — just enough detail to be interesting/unique, not so much that it was fussy.

Not an inexpensive lunch (around $150 US including drinks and service) but we felt worth it due to the lovely experience! As a bonus, parking at the hotel is super easy (n.b. we had the Aquarium parking lot “experience” yesterday so this was a nice contrast, lol) — there is a generous flat gravel lot just outside the gate, or some flat paved parking through the gate as well.
