A lovely experience from start to finish.
Quiet rural location in north Derbyshire . Set behind the owners property.
Nigel (the owner) was keen to make sure we had everything we needed for our stay and the lodge itself was beautifully maintained inside and out.
We made use of the good kitchen facilities and the rather random jukebox. The lodge itself is totally separate from the main property and totally private, perfect for a romantic getaway.
Unfortunately we weren't able to utilise the brilliant lake and deck as much as we'd like as the weather wasn't fantastic. We did feed the fish though , who were plentiful in number.
A 5 star stay . Wholeheartedly recommended.

As soon as we arrived we were made to feel extremely welcome. Nigel was at hand and more than happy to make our stay comfortable i.e. giving takeaway/restaurant advice and keeping my partners birthday surprises from him!
The boathouse is in a fantastic location right by a lake full of fish! It was great to wake up in the morning, open the curtains and have such a lovely view! The Pedalo was fantastic and we really enjoyed having a go every morning - such good fun!
There were four of us and with it only being one bedroom I was unsure how it would work out... but it was absolutely fine! We were more than comfortable sitting in the conservatory on the large comfortable sofas, listening to the Dukebox, whilst enjoying the view!
The outdoor area was a Fab, it was lovely to sit comfertably outside - we didn't have time to try out the fire but would have loved too!
Okay so to sum it up here are the HIGHLIGHTS:
~FANTASTIC LAKESIDE VIEW
~HOSPITABLE HOST
~LOCATION - pub around the corner
~DUKE-BOX
~LOVELY QUIRKY FURNISHINGS
~WARM, COMFORTABLE AND HOMELY
A fantastic surprise birthday weekend for my partner - Thank you Nigel. We look forward to visiting again soon!

My wife and I travelled up from North Wales to stay in this brand new boat house, situated on the edge af a private lake.To say this was a value for money holiday would be an underestatement to say the least,,it was amazing!Nigel the owner made us most welcome, and extra touches including things like a bottle of wine, and fresh bread from the local bakers realy made a difference.
Nigel is new to the letting game, and I hope his enthusiasm towards his guests remains as positive as it was with us,with everyone else who visits his lovely home.
We were blessed with great weather, and sitting on the decking with a glass of wine, listening to the juke box in the evening was truly a memorably experience my wife and I will will not forget in a hurry,
We plan to return for sure, and I will be taking Nigel's offer to teach me to fly fish for the trout he has stocked in the lake, thanks again for a wonderful couple of days stay, see you again soon if your not too booked up!

A compact and tastefully decorated property on the side of a small private trout lake. Lovely private location with excellent pub for food a short walk away. Very helpful, friendly owner who was anxious to do all he could to ensure a perfect stay; two bottles of wine awaiting us!
For us the fishing made it! We were lucky enough to have lovely days/evenings and could experience fly fishing as beginners almost literally from our own decking. Caught some excellent trout....!
Have already booked for a much longer return visit!!

We were fortunate enough to be the first people to stay at the recently completed boathouse. The accommodation is beautifully decorated and furnished, spacious interior with plenty of gadgets including a juke box. We travelled with two small children and they slept on the foldable bed in living room with no complaints. The owner Nigel was very friendly and helpful, giving me my first fly fishing lesson.
The boat house is located on a private lake stocked with trout, the surroundings are beautiful, watching the sunset over the lake from the conservatory, juke box on in the background, glass of wine in hand was the most relaxed i have felt in a while.
There is plenty of space for the kids to play, ours were on the pedallo in the lake every morning before breakfast, or running in the field, on the swings, so much to do. They both loved it.
Would highly recommend, one of the best accommodations we have stayed in UK. There is also plenty to do with the kids within 30-45min drive.
Thank you Nigel, we will be back :)
